    About this property

    Historic Olde Poste in Cascade

    Family-friendly vacation home in Cascade
Base your vacation from OLDE POSTE COTTAGE -- site of Cascade's old post office in the heart of historic Cascade, at the foot of the Pike's Peak Highway. This Victorian cottage, restored and furnished to reflect its genteel past, will return you to an earlier time in Cascade's history when folks came up Ute Pass to vacation among the mountain Ponderosa, away from the bussle of city life. The livingroom walls display prints and photos of Cascade and Olde Poste Cottage from the Ute Pass Historical Society, as well as chronicling the drama of the American Post from the Revolution, through the exciting Pony Express, to the color and charm of the stamps and postcards found in today's U.S. Post Office. The cottage's bedrooms are lovingly decorated to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Perfect for four adults and up to three kids, or three couples, this historical Victorian cottage will be your headquarters for both summer and winter activities in the Manitou/Colorado Springs and the Pike's Peak region. (see the AREA ACTIVITIES' button on our Happy Trails webpage for great links and discount coupons). The Cottage is completely furnished with everything you need to be comfortable on your vacation. You'll want to return again and again! LINK TO COTTAGE'S OWN WEB PAGE, 'Olde Poste Cottage information', AT BOTTOM) GUEST COMMENTS SAY IT ALL: 'Everything was so wonderful. God willing!' MARYANNE (on behalf of everyone in our families), Ronkonkoma, NY & Houston, TX 'What a lovely home! We had a great time over Parent's Weekend (our son is in his third year at the Air Force Academy). The amenities of the cottage gave me the chance to 'spoil him' with a few home-cooked meals and I even made cinnamon rolls from SCRATCH! As always, time has gone so quickly! The memories and pictures of lovely late summer in Colorado will be cherished ones.' Ft Wayne, IN 'What a great place for a Christmas Vacation. Your hospitality was wonderful and the Olde Poste worked out great for our family. Location could not have been better...a full week of excitement - all within 10 miles.' JASON & FAMILY, Tomball, TX 'Michael and Maria were married at the Wines of Colorado and had a wonderful stay here. Thanks so much!' Thank you so much.' Papillion, NE 'The Poste Cottage is adorable! With three young boys in our group, this was a solid arrangement.' ANN M, Washington, DC 'Great time! Very comfortable home - great location, central to everything we wanted to see and visit. The Pantry Restaurant was out of this world! Garden of the Gods was spectacular. Pikes Peak Highway was so much fun! Casa Grande Mexican food in Woodland Park was yummy! We'll be back in the fall.' Ho-Sing-Lay Family, Lyman, NH 'We were here for USAFA graduation. We are so proud of our graduate. Thank you for providing us a cute house for us to stay. The kids really enjoyed the back room. Also, loved playing horseshoes and exploring the back yard. Thanks again!' Hansens & Lymans, South Elgin, IL 'We love the Olde Poste Cottage! It was so much more cozy and warm than any hotel! It was fantastic being able to cook meals for the whole family. Can't find a better location; we were never in the car too long on our way to touristy stuff. Thanks for providing a wonderful place for our family to make memories in.' Wegers, Magallons & Brantleys - TX & FL “We had an AWESOME time on our vacation! The cottage was a perfect home-away-from-home. The location here is excellent and the owners were very helpful (yes, we tried the hike at Crags!) and attentive. We grilled out twice during our stay and enjoyed meals at “home” each night of our stay. We loved the attractions too – Garden of the Gods, Cliff Dwellings, Cave of the Winds, Cog Railway, Seven Falls. Also went horseback riding and whitewater rafting with Noah’s Ark in Buena Vista, and saw Royal Gorge and Molly Kathleen Mine in Cripple Creek. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!!” Matt & Martha Cummings & Family – Memphis, TN Keywords: House, cottage

A great week with family visiting USAFA

I was here with one of my sons, both parents, and my USAFA cadet son (for a few nights) for a week over Parents' Weekend. We didn't arrive until midnight, but walked in and loved our initial look around. It's nothing fancy, but it made us feel right at home. My parents mentioned all week how much it felt like the homes when they were growing up - from decor to some of the physical structuring of the house. There were plenty of books and games and internet/cable that worked well. (though I did have a hard time figuring out which channels were which without scrolling through ALL of them). Though it is near a fairly busy road, I never noticed the noise from inside. We spent plenty of time on the front and back porches in awe of the view and temperatures (we're from Texas). The house was stocked with the staples you'd find in any kitchen which is quite helpful. There were plenty of plates, utensils, etc. There is no dishwasher, which would have been a bummer for me, but my mom actually enjoys hand-washing. :) There was no big pitcher for us to make tea, so I just bought one and left it there. I was pleasantly surprised by the larger than expected capacity of the stacked washer/dryer. I thought the one bathroom might be an issue when there were five of us there - not a big deal at all. I came to really appreciate the way they have you enter and lock the home. It totally prevents you from losing a key while out. My cadet enjoyed it as he likes to stay a little farther off campus (I still think it was only 30 minutes) The owners were fantastic and quickly answered any question I sent via email through vrbo. We will definitely consider this home again.

        5/5 Excellent

Beautiful cottage, well furnished & great location

We were pleasantly surprised by this great little property. It was just the right size for our family of 5. The furnishings reminded us so much of our grandparent's homes. We loved the location and the fact that we could come back to cook a meal and rest in between adventures. They were very accommodating and when we had an issue with the WiFi connection, they went out of their way to fix it immediately.

Property not secluded as it appears in the pictures.

Property is right off a major highway making it very noisy and uncomfortable to sit on the porch. There is a pizza parlor on one side, a very busy post office on one side, a cabin 15 feet away on one side, major highway 20 feet away on one side. We were expecting something more secluded from the pictures. Hiking was not an option because the area has a chain link fence around it. We had issues with the TV and air conditioner. We left a message with the owner when we arrived but never received a call back.

            5/5 Excellent

              Great place to stay!

Great place to stay! Nice little cottage in a great location with access to everything! Stayed here while I was working a contract job in the Springs, it has everything you would need including a washer/dryer combo and even a place to park my enclosed trailer! Owners George and Lynn are very nice and will do anything for you to make your stay a great experience!
