Land adjoins Genesee County Parks property with direct access to the Holloway Reservoir and miles of trails and waterways. Walk the trail to the water or bring your water toys and enjoy this gorgeous, unique home. The kitchen is a cooks dream, the views are magnificent from every window. The master bath has a two person Jacuzzi tub and king sized bed with private sitting room. There are 2 wood burning fireplaces, large front covered porch and a massive deck. Situated on a farm with friendly animals to watch and enjoy. Fish, hike, boat, canoe, or just enjoy the wonderful company you will undoubtedly want to bring with you to experience this great country adventure. Close to Frankenmuth, Birch Run and 90 minutes from Detroit, this could become your home away from home for a week end or a week. Our low introductory pricing enables you to experience this lovely setting while we continue to work on the exterior of the home and farm property doing some updating and neglected maintenance. There are several beaches and boat landings for fishing, boating and swimming. Eight family members from across the country gathered for a wedding in Lapeer. We had plenty of beds, bathrooms, and privacy; but more importantly, a spacious, homey, kitchen/dining area where we could ALL sit around and chit chat. Plenty of cookware for preparing late night pizza rolls. Morning offered rocking chairs on the front porch where we sipped coffee and watched the farm animals going about their business on the warm fall day. This may not be the house for guests with an aversion to farm life because of the smells, dirt, and noise that come with it but for us, it was just like being at grandmas house. All very friendly! It sets way off the road and you have to manually open a gate to enter/ leave! The farmhouse beds are comfortable and plenty of room to sit for groups! One of the previous guests left a bad review and stated it was dirty, it's a farm, bring some boots! It was a great experience to get to know the animals and learn their personalities, they looked forward to the carrots and sliced apples every day as much as we enjoyed treating them. So much work goes into caring for these sweet animals and Maurine does a great job, she even took time out to show our grandson the baby ducks. We have stayed here multiple times and enjoyed every visit. A true farm experience; you can feed and spend time w/horses, goats, sheep and more. My son and his friends were in heaven interacting w/and feeding all the animals. We fished and canoed in the river bordering the property. Maurine is a wonderful host and a huge animal lover, whose farm is home to many injured and rescued creatures. Goats saved from auctions are living their best lives, roaming free, chomping hay and hanging out. Retired race horses graze in pastures, a blind pig, a goose who thinks he is a goat, a very elderly donkey, named Sassafras, and so many more reside here. The home is gorgeous, well-appointed and so welcoming. We love making meals in the huge kitchen, sleeping in the amazingly soft beds and listening to nature from the windows. All of this is not to say that you don't need good boots, the knowledge that barns/farms are messy and sometimes smelly places. The roosters crow loudly in the morning and the fences will always need painting. We discovered Maurine's farm during the pandemic and it has quickly become a happy place for our family. Jul 9, 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Communing with Nature First of all, a warm thank you to Maurine, our hostess, who not only provided an absolutely beautiful home and loads of friendly and engaging animals for us to enjoy, but shines in her role as protector of the old, broken down and unwanted creatures who now have a home in her care. Our family of 6 is chock full of animal and nature lovers, so we had a truly wonderful visit. The guest house is a warm and welcoming place, decorated with French country charm and features a huge great room, wrap-around decks, chef's kitchen, a piano, fireplaces, 3 floors of rooms, great amenities and plenty of space for relaxing. The outdoors are shady and include a fire pit, which our family used almost every night. There were kayaks to take to the nearby lake, and a little dock where we fished as well. We watched sunrises and sunsets, and felt truly at home. But above all, the farm itself was the most wonderful part of our stay. Animals were everywhere, and we literally had free reign to walk around and "play" with them all day. It was not unusual to see us up in the morning in our pj's walking around looking for the kitties, or sitting on the porch waiting for the "jail break" when the goats were let out of the barn. We walked the long driveway lined th paddocks for the horses on each side, and made friends with them as they nuzzled our hands. Bottom line, if you love interacting with nature, you will not be disappointed here. Once again, Maurine, thanks again for your hospitality. ##### Lonny L. Her farm was everything as described and it provided the perfect getaway for friends celebrating a 50th birthday. The home was beautiful and had everything needed…the eclectic decor added to the charm! Couldn't have been any nicer! The farmhouse was perfect and all the rescue animals were wonderful. Realize this property might not be for everyone but for our extended weekend we couldn't have chosen a better spot. We were entertained enough just staying there at the property. The house is huge and very comfortable and there are nice big porches all around the house. The kitchen is enormous and open to the rest of the house so dinner was fun. The river is a short walk through the woods from the back of the property and there's a little dock with a bench perfect for fishing. Our host was very kind and accommodating. Nine of us from 18 years to 70 years, we all enjoyed walking around and visiting with the animals. The star of the show was certainly Tina, the goat. She visited the front porch often. If we weren’t there to give her immediate attention, she would often just relax in the chair till we got there. We also walked back to the water a couple times. Saw several deer and a bench to watch the water. Clean and comfortable.
