We wanted to have a great getaway weekend in the mountains where we played and worked growing up. We were able to four wheel and fish in our old stomping grounds. The cabin was wonderful and the onsite manager was more than helpful. We enjoyed good food, good company and fantastic surroundings. The fire pit was especially nice and the grill and kitchen were wonderfully stocked. We couldn't ask for better!
My wife and I had an amazing stay with our two boys. Very secluded and gives you the ability to disconnect, which is what we were looking for. There is a small store about a mile down the road at Groundhog Lake to get essentials, which was nice. They also have snacks for the kids and adult beverages if needed. Becky and her team were very friendly and helpful!
This is our third stay here, we absolutely love it! Kudo's to Becky Lynn, Tanya and of course TBoone! There is nothing I would change about this place, it is perfect!
This was a beautiful property. My kids of age 3 and 16 enjoyed it to the fullest. We all
Enjoyed being outdoors and visiting mesa verde. Only thing was that it was very remote. The drive in was a bit of a challenge. But over all it was an amazing stay.
We loved our stay at the Laughing Coyote. If you are looking for quiet and solitude, this is the place. The cabin was comfy and had everything we needed. We explored the MANY trails around the area and fell more in love with the western side of the San Juans. Helpful info to know: you are 38 miles (1 hour drive) from Dolores on dirt roads. The roads to/from Rico are not as maintained so the drive is over an hour. The distance didn't bother us, since the views are breathtaking either direction. We Jeeped to the top of Black Mesa and saw one of the most beautiful views of Dolores Mt. and Mt. Wilson I have ever seen. The Laughing Coyote is only a short distance beyond Groundhog Reservoir where we met some great locals who operate the litte store there. We hope to be back soon! Thanks again for the hospitality. We loved it!
The cabin was filthy!!! Dead bugs laying everywhere and spiders crawling up the wall! Under the bed was horrible, old water bottles, food and only God knows what else....there were even dead bugs in the glasses in the kitchen. The owner refuses to refund my money and we were only in the cabin ten minutes max. We refused to stay in such filth. I have pictures to prove my case. The owner even went as far as telling me she would send me a check for my refund if I would give her a good review!!! I have waited for over two weeks, guess what no check! Take this review serious folks, to stay there is a health risk!!!
This cabin is the cutest thing. It is super cozy and has everything you need for a family of 4. The drive up the mountain is beautiful and very remote which we love. The property has 3 other cabins and they were closer than we anticipated and would have enjoyed it more if they were more spaced out so you would feel more secluded.
Unfortunately 4 days into our stay a big group checked into the larger property and they were very loud, which made our mornings and evening quite frustrating. The first 4 days were amazing even though the larger property was rented out at that time as well. Those people were very respectful of others. It was so quiet at night and on those mornings and nights, we got to see lots of wildlife from the front porch.
Becky is amazing and very helpful. She is considerate and our dog fell in love with her dog Molly :)
Everyone went out of our way to make our stay amazing! Beautiful cabin with plenty of room, cozily nestled in the mountains! Saw wildlife everyday including Elk!
Beautiful quiet location outside of Dolores- scenery wildlife fantastic- distance between cabins just great yet just a close walk to the main lodge - will definitely stay here again - a week went really fast
This is our second stay out here, and we absolutely love the solitude and beauty! Becky is a wonderful host, and we had everything we needed for an amazing week in the mountains!
Wonderful escape from everything. We just missed the Aspen colors, but still worth the seclusion and scenery. Wonderful vacation for the entire family, including the furry one.
This is an ideal destination if you want to get away and experience some peace and quiet in the beauty of the San Juan valley. 3 of us stayed for 3 nights. The cabin is cozy, the beds comfy and the kitchen allows you to prepare and cook your meals. The bathroom had plenty of warm water for all to shower. There are simple decorative touches that make it homey. Great beds and linens. Your private outdoor fire pit allows you to enjoy an open fire under the stars. Chopped wood is provided. If we needed anything ie. lighter, kindling, directions on how to light the wood burning stove, trails to walk among the aspens, activities in the area, the property manager was responsive and helpful. We journeyed to Mesa Verde for a day trip which was about 40 minutes away. We delighted in sitting on the porch reading a book and eating our meals outdoors on the picnic table provided. Wifi and cell reception is sketchy so plan on being off the grid while you are here. Your nervous system and being will thank you. Fill up your gas tank before you leave Delores and have your food and beverages with you. There is a store 5 minutes away for essentials. We enjoyed magnificent Colorado scenery while we were here. The cabin is a perfect place to come home to after your daily adventures. The cabin was a little more remote than we thought, but we were grateful once we settled in and had a restful, rejuvenating and inspiring 3 days away.
We had a sublime visit! Tanya was very welcoming, our cabin was clean, quiet and efficient. We enjoyed every second! Exactly what we needed, hiking, relaxing with a book, watching the deer and seeing nature at her finest.
It is difficult to find areas with so few people, but this wonderful little cabin’s location allowed us to have the perfect secluded getaway we were looking for! The birch forest on the property is amazing and there are perfect views of dawn and dusk to be found! Becky Lynn was very accommodating and communicative! We’ll be back!
Very nice and cozy cabin with full kitchen, bathroom and shower. Lots of beautiful trails in the forest or by the creek or the lake. Lots of fun for us and our dogs.
Great cabin in a beautiful setting! The cabin was cozy but big enough to easily accommodate my party of two adults and a child. It was well stocked with nice decorative touches. The cabin was surrounded by an aspen grove which made for lovely outdoor eating and lounging. There were spectacular drives and hikes nearby. The cabin is somewhat remote and my GPS led me astray so recommend confirming directions before leaving.
Becky went out of her way to accommodate me at this hidden gem in South West Colorado. She was polite, friendly and amazingly generous with her time and advice about outdoor activities in the Groundhog Lake area. If you want a cabin with majestic views, camp fires, and access to amazing walks and hikes, this should be your top choice In the Groundhog area.
