Returning guests every 14 years and scuba divers, and were given a so-called “premium”room, and I don’t understand the labeling, because our room was definitely not premium, and it was the closest room to the lobby. It was almost like we were being punished for some reason. We always get rooms close to the Dive Shop or in close proximity but not this year and when we asked to swap a room, they said it wasn’t available. Our friends (2 rooms) are not divers, literally had rooms on top of the Dive Shop upper level upgraded rooms for the same price, with returning guest gifts in their room. We got nothing. Zilch. A kick in the pants. Won’t return.

Hotel and staff were subperb. Predominantly American tourists, only Mexicans were staff. Long taxi ride to town. Great place for diving excursions, snorkeling off beach was disappointing

It was a great layout with tons to do for big and little kids and adults alike. We liked the all inclusive nature of the resort but it also had a nice, smaller type feel as well.

The food was really good (no need to go to town), the place was clean, beautiful garden areas, fun flamingos, iguanas, peacocks and coati to watch. Great location for getting to the diving/snorkel areas right from the dock, and rooms were nice. The smell from the more eco friendly sanitation/sewer tanks was heavy at times when walking in certain areas. You get a bit used to it, and you can feel happy that this place is caring about the environment. Hopefully, the hotel can improve this with time. The room smelled perfectly fine and each room has an air purifier. The water from special filtration sites next the the bungalows is safe to drink and at all meals too. The hotel has a full diving/snorkel/diving school company on site. It was great not having to go elsewhere. We also had a blast taking the small catamaran out which is included with hotel plus ($6) Ecological entrance fee per person. Bring your own snorkel gear if possible as the hotel and the diving place does not rent them out to take off site. You can only use them while on a snorkel or diving tour. You don’t need fins to do other locations near the shore, but you could do more if you had them. Bring “reef safe sunscreen” with you. This is the only kind allowed in the ocean in this protected area. The sunscreen at the shop on site is $26 USD. We rented a scooter for two days to visit other areas to snorkel. Don’t ride the scooters on the nice “bicycle only” small streets that parallel the main road.

I wouldn't say this is a 5 star resort by any means. I liked our stay, but I don't think I could justify the price (at least over Spring Break) again. The grounds were nice and the staff was mostly friendly. You could tell some of them were burnt out, probably due to it being the end of Spring break season. The food wasn't fine for an all inclusive, but not special. The rooms were small and the beds were not comfortable. Beach area and access to diving were great.

The hotel is pretty average overall. The bed and pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. The specialty restaurants had the best food. There was an overwhelming sewage smell on the property most days. The beach is rocky with no shoreline entry - but you are able to get in the water via a staircase on the dock. The pools are nice, but can be noisy with activities and games throughout the day. There are plenty of hammocks scattered around which were wonderful. The best part was the dive center on property that allows you to head out on dives straight from the hotel.

The food and drink were great. However, this is definitely not a 5 star hotel. We had delayed check in for over an hour. Lighting malfunctions in the room, there was terrible sewage smells around the property and the electricity completely went out twice. We were only offered a $100 credit for a $1400 stay. Will not return.

Iberostare is quiet and one of the best resorts for diving. The reef is right off the resorts beach area. The staff was helpful and polite and the food options were plentiful. It's perfect for a dive vacation.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The bungalow rooms are a bit smaller than the hotel rooms I am used to, but it was still very comfortable. Everything was clean. The beach is rocky, but if you go out on the pier, there are stairs into the water where it is better. We spent a lot of time at the pool, where they have a swim-up bar, as well as servers to bring you drinks. The staff was very friendly, and there were some fun activities scheduled that you could participate in if you wanted to. The buffets had a lot of delicious options. We also enjoyed the entertainment in the evening.

This property is truly paradise. There were so many choices of activities, the food was amazing, the grounds were beautiful and well maintained, there were plenty of spaces to gather so it never felt overly crowded. Best of all, the on-site dive shop was outstanding! Great people with experiences for scuba and snorkeling! Overall, the best vacation ever!

My wife and I stayed for five nights in the middle of February 2024. We are 35 and we have been to many all inclusive resorts. This resort had your typical games around the pool throughout the day and bingo and things like that in the evening. I will say the prizes were lacking. I think my wife got a coupon for $150 off a $300 purchase at a diamond shop in town for her prize. We have been places where they give bottles of wine and stuff like that for winning this place did nothing like that. So it made it a little less exciting to play the games They had three restaurants and a buffet so dinner options were perfect for us for five nights but we usually like a few more options if we're staying for a longer time. The buffet was very good though every night. And the restaurants were very good also. During the day they really only have a snack bar and the lunch buffet by the beach. It's a good size buffet but there's no actual restaurant to go eat at during the day. They had entertainment at night every night. It was okay at best. It was a really nice resort and everyone was very helpful. A lot of the people staying here. We're doing so because it was super convenient to take off to go scuba diving. We did not do any scuba diving but we did do a snorkel excursion. That was amazing. If you are looking to party, this probably isn't the resort for you but it is a great middle of the road resort.

Outstanding experience. Staff was friendly, helpful, and responded very quickly to any problems. High staff / guest ratio. Beautiful grounds, well-maintained. Flamingoes, peahens and coatis all added to the “tropical jungle” feel. Buffet food was well above average. Snorkeling right off the beach and onsite dive outfitter.

We loved the pool area and the beach. There were plenty of lawn chairs. There was a variety and it all was good. The rooms are just the right size. A/C was out for the first few days but they brought another fan. We loved to tip since they were so appreciated. 2nd time here.

Cabanas were cool with beautiful vegetation and animals on the grounds. Rooms were small but clean with everything you'd need. Food was good but repetitive. Filtered water stations throughout the grounds to use. Mixed drinks were very good, not stingy on the alcohol. Beach area was nice with very clear water. Pier very close to corals for boat rides to snorkle/dive.

Food poisoning requiring a trip to the hospital for an IV and three medications for my pregnant daughter who became violently ill day 7 of a 10 day stay while only eating Iberostar food. The rest of the family had stomach issues but never got violently ill. Iberostar refused to pay for even the taxi to the hospital. Hospital and meds $550 and taxi $40. No one wants to pay thousands to have this type of vacation experience. After 20 years going here we won’t return. Restaurant serving staff were amazing. Birthday was mentioned they made a specially decorated dessert cake presented it to my other daughter and sang happy birthday. Pregnant daughter did a reveal the restaurant staff did the reveal for her. Amazing above and beyond customer service. Saving Grace ! Beautiful resort, but rooms smell so bad. They introduced air cleaners we brought multiple air fresheners but still had this really bad smell that we are still smelling in our items that were in the room though laundered once home. Front desk no loyalty recognition. Past infinity members before they dissolved the program and IHG top level but dismissed when we asked to be close to family members and half way to the ocean/ beach. Told you can pay $500 and we can accommodate. Placed very last building they could put us in from the beach and still be on the property. Interesting IHG has always smiled said welcome and would it be okay to upgrade your room, never had to even ask.

Allow us to add that we truly appreciate your loyalty, however , it is important to explain that no specific room, bed, building or location can be confirmed in advance for being subject to availability on your arrival. The food was terrible. Typical buffet food and by the time you arrive and checking they state the restaurants are booked. Drinks and food are not easily accessible.
