Sue and Graham are such wonderful and welcoming hosts. The property has so much character, well maintained and very clean. Other than the weak wifi connection in the room, everything else was excellent. The breakfast in the morning was a really highlight - great options for vegetarians and pescatarian alike. Would highly recommend!

A perfect choice!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Meare Manor. Sue and Graham, the owners, welcomed us warmly and were most pleasant hosts. Our breakfast was exceptional and delicious; far better than most hotels and guest houses. We would highly recommend Meare Manor if you visit the Glastonbury area.

A very interesting property, nice welcome from the owners, room was pretty - sadly shower was faulty but there was plenty of hot water for a bath. (Owners offered to fix but as we were only there one night we declined). Hadn't appreciated on booking that the restaurant wasn't open for dinner but had a great meal about 15 minutes drive away at The Sheppey. Breakfast was very good, freshly cooked and on hot plates.

Graham and Susan made us welcome from the moment we checked in. We were guven a free upgrade on our room. We really enjoyed the breakfast and a great chouce of food. And only a couple of miles to Glastonbury.

Really nice hotel in driving distance to Glastonbury and Street. Hotel was clean and comfortable and owners attentive. Great breakfast too. RSPB Ham Wall 1 mile away.

Surprising nice hotel, room was clean and larger than average. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Ample parking and close to Glasonbury. Breakfast choice was endless and the full English was excellent Minor issue is that the hotel does not offer evening meals or bar, which is a pitty as it has a nice beer garden. Nearest pub was 2 miles away and closed, the other two were full, which meant a drive into Glasonbury. Unfortunately the road was close and meant a large detour (hopefully this will be re-open soon) Would stay here again

Glastonbury and environs.
Glastonbury was our aim and we achieved all our plans. Accomodation was great - weather wasn't- so having a nice room to return to and dry off was very helpful. Breakfasts were brilliant, a real treat.

Good sized room and bed. Shower in our room, Arthur 1, was very poor. Pressure was very weak and water was luke warm. Shower head could not be fixed in position so moved continuously. Decor in bedroom was very dated and wall paper was ripped in places. The room was very warm, (too hot) at times without the radiator on. Breakfast was good. Plenty of car parking.

Stayed here for access to Clarks Village 4 miles away. My room was quiet , bed lovely, and had good quality sleep. The patio doors in my room did not close at the bottom properly so the smell of smoke from the surrounding houses came into the room in the evening. It could do with the radio on in the breakfast room in the mornibgs as it was a bit too quiet. It is obvious they care about their guests - many hotels do not give any soap, face clothes etc - even separate hand wash in the room. Coffee and biscuits and a full spread buffet. Good hidden parking. Very pleasant.

Not sure how this is a 4 star rating. I would say 3 at best. The place is very hard to find better signage would help, perhaps it was because it was dusk when we arrived. Friendly enough. Charming, dated, mostly clean. The room was so hot, the shower was basically non existent. Only provided shampoo no conditioner( though when I asked for it they provided me a used bottle that a previous guest had left behind )no hairdryer. Coffee pot was on the desk yet you had to plug it in unless you moved it across the room and then back to make your coffee. The bed was not comfortable, thank God I brought my own pillow. Breakfast was very nice and the family running it was firiendly.

Overall a very good experience. A clean and tidy establishment run by a very welcoming couple. The building itself had age/character but our room and the communal areas were in good repair. Our room was large, very well equipped and fitted out with a very large and comfortable bed. The range of items available for breakfast was well thought out and of excellent quality.

The staff were very welcoming, helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was extensive and well presented. Filter coffee tasted bitter. The only thing that lets the place down is the dark, clashing décor and the feeble electric shower. However convenient for Glastonbury and very quiet at night.

Really comfortable guest house, quiet and conveniently located between Glastonbury and Cheddar. The rooms are large and comfortably furnished - this feels more like a hotel than a guest house. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the breakfast is second to none! Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

What matters is how you sleep and the breakfast. The breakfast was superb with the most delicious homemade marmalade I have ever had, so good I dreamt about it next night. Bed was comfortable and we slept very well. Pretty little garden and dog friendly.

I'm always nervous staying away from home; as a coeliac, it's sometimes a bit hit and miss as to whether I can eat safely. One of the owners of the hotel has coeliac disease, so she is well aware of using separate utensils etc, so I had fantastic breakfast every day with no worries. Three of us stayed in the Mendip room, which is a nice large room. There was plenty of tea and coffee in the room. The only slight downside was the shower was only just adequate (not much power, and difficult to control the temperature). Reading other reviews, it seems many guests choose to use the bath instead.

Characterful wonderful.
What can be said about this place that hasn't already been said. It is an old manor house with so much character you feel as if you have stepped back in time, but with WiFi!! The hosts are so friendly and the breakfast, delicious, totally worth a stay!!!

Quirky, comfortable and clean. Definitely recommend this as excellent value, with nice little touches such as good coffee in the room and at breakfast, a separate radiator allowing personal control of the temperature and a freshly cooked lovely breakfast.

Lovely Stay
The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. We came up to see the Starlings at Ham Wall Nature Reserve which was just a few minutes drive away. The Victorian hotel had lots of character, we used a small lift to move our cases and camera gear to the upstairs room. The superior room with bath had a 6 foot bed which was very comfortable, a small bath and over bath shower. Coffee and tea facilities, the hair dryer didn't work And the bath tap was loose but other than that everything was hunky dory. I would rate it 4/5 Thank you

We had tried to call the hotel, and they said can we book on line, as we wanted to check we were Ok to take dogs. When we arrived at the hotel the door was locked so we pressed the bell, and a guy answered and said he would send his wife down. A man in a white van arrived, the man then shouted if those dogs come near me I will kick them, then he said in future if people ask you your name you don't say reason, you say Mr Reason. Then he said he we never called the hotel, as the owners are away, and I said we did as we wanted to check on the dogs. He said we never had a booking, and would not even look at the paperwork we had. So I said whats the matter, don't you want us to stay, and he said no F@@@ off, got in his van and drove off. This was sometime after 6pm.

Four Star Should Be One Star
I booked this hotel through Hotels .com were its listed as 4 star,unfortunately my stay was anything but 4 star.I got to the hotel at 18;45 on a Friday evening to be met by a member of staff who was just on her way home,I was given my key shown to the room which was fine and I have no complaint,I was then told that no food was available there is a bar but its closed,I was directed to a pub 1.5 miles away where I could get something to eat,Cooked breakfast I was advised was not available but some cereal could be left out and I could help myself.In hindsight I should have asked for a refund but after a long drive navigating the M6/M5 I was just ready to sleep.The followng day I returned after visiting friends to find this 4 star hotel doesnt service the rooms. If your looking for a four star stay near Glastonbury this isnt it !

As previous reviews have stated , the decor is somewhat tired , but not without some nice touches.. Breakfast was superb , as was the general level of service . Will certainly use again if staying in the area. A good find !
