Family-friendly cabin in Davis with spa tub
We welcome you (and your pets) to come enjoy our cabin located in the wonderful Black Bear Resort. Our cabin features enough beds to sleep 8 people! It includes a full functioning kitchen, a real wood burning fireplace, washer and dryer, and a full bath with a double jacuzzi tub that is perfect for relaxing after exploring this absolutely beautiful area in West Virginia. Our cabin also features a deck that overlooks the Canaan Wildlife Refuge. And yes we have wifi!

Inside our cabin you will find a comfortable kitchen and living area with a flat screen tv w/roku built-in, blu-ray/dvd player (with a selection of movies), cable tv, fireplace (with plenty of wood to burn already at the cabin). One queen bed is located on the main level, twin bunk beds and a double bed are located in the loft area, and a double bed in the lower level that has a door leading to the deck that views the wildlife refuge. Loft and lower level are both accessed by a spiral staircase. In the loft you will also find another flat screen tv with cable connection and an xbox 360 with games for your enjoyment. To help entertain families, kids and friends we have a board games and coloring books too!

In the kitchen there is a refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot, and on the deck is a gas grill for those that love to cook outdoors. For the days that you do not want to prepare your meal at the cabin you can venture to the historic towns of Davis (4.5 miles) or Thomas (7.3 miles) and try out one of their delicious restaurants or breweries.

Being located in Black Bear Resort you have FREE access to their amenities which includes fishing ponds, fire pits, miniature golf course, volleyball court, playground, and a walking trail over looking the beautiful Canaan Valley. My kids also found a little arcade downstairs in the lodge (don't forget to bring quarters for games!)

If you decide to leave the peaceful serenity of the resort, our cabin is close to wonderful places to explore in every season of the year.

In the winter you can head over to Blackwater Falls State Park (7.8 Miles from cabin) for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and the longest sled run in the U.S. with a conveyor to take you back to the top! Or visit White Grass Cross Country Ski Resort (8 miles and it was rated #1 in U.S. for cross country skiing by USA Today). If you want downhill skiing or snowboarding you can choose from Canaan Valley Resort State Park (6 miles) or Timberline Four Seasons Resort (7.8 miles). Canaan Valley Resort State Park also has 1,200 foot tubing park and an ice skating rink!

Spring is when you can find some of the best fly fishing in WV! Black Bear Resort is surrounded by Federal Wilderness Land spring is a great time to view the wildlife.

Summer is when visitors can enjoy cooler mountain temperatures with plenty of hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, or white water rafting in the great outdoors. If you are seeking hiking and beautiful views adventure over to Dolly Sods (17.4 miles) in the Monongahela National Forest. Be sure to keep driving until you find the views! Blackwater Falls is also a great place to visit and hike in any season!

With cooler temperatures, Fall is when the trees change colors to vibrant reds, golds, oranges and browns. This normally occurs mid to late September. This is another time to go see Dolly Sods as the Huckleberry and Blueberries turn a vibrant red all through the valleys.

If you want to travel a little further, you can spend a day at Seneca Rocks (27.8 miles) best known for its rocky cliffs, beautiful views and mountain climbing. If you enjoy exploring caves you can head to Smoke Hole Caverns (41.3 miles) or Seneca Caverns (35.1 miles).

Come see for the beauty of Canaan Valley that is located only:

Perfect for our needs!
We were in town for the Highlands Sky 40 mile race. The cabin was perfect for our needs. The resort was quiet and centrally located to Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley. There are tons of trails and wilderness in the area to explore. The cabin was cozy and comfortable, and deceivingly roomy. Laura and Jeff were great to work with, and very responsive. We'd love to stay here again!

My Stay
The cabin was very nice. It did not have air conditioning, but to be fair, it did not list that in the amenities. So I should have read closer. My sons would have certainly swam in the pool, and I thought a resort should have had the pool ready at the beginning of June. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Short ski weekend
We had an amazing time skiing at timberline. We booked this in advance and were close to canceling due to weather, however, it became colder and snowed before our arrival, and we were able to enjoy the last bit of skiing for the season! Everything was better than expected during our stay and things were so easy. Laura was always available for questions. We would love to stay again, and will recommend this little community to others wanting to enjoy skiing or a cute place in the summer.

Rest Assured
Overall it was a nice little place to stay. It was close to the ski lodge and a grocery store. The beds were real nice and soft. The rooms were a little smaller than expected but cozy. Definitely would stay again. Ohio
