We now get automatic use of Diwangkara's big beachside pool and buffet breakfast that is unbelievably good. I spent 2 days at a nearby beachfront hotel that was disgusting. Tariff was nearly twice as much, breakfast cost the same but was 2 pieces of toast and 1 coffee or tea. Jimbu is now real value for money. No wonder the suroundng budget hotels are empty -or near that? Our driver didn't know the place so in the end we had to navigate with the Hotels.com app. We booked Jambu Inn, ended up staying in a Kirawangan hotel room. Staff was friendly and breakfast was ok. The room had an awful chemical smell. This hotel is next door to another larger one and utilizes the same reception area. However, arriving at night, in a VERY questionable neighborhood, you'd think there would be signage to direct you to check in, especially late at night! This was the first time on my month long trip that I was actually concerned about safety. The first room I was given was very dirty, no towels, the AC didn't work and had a resident lizard living in the room that was about 12" long. The next day when I went to the front desk, they agreed to change my room. Mainly because I had reserved and paid for an upgraded room not the one I had originally been given. I had reserved 6 nights at this property but had a family emergency and had to book another flight back after only two days. I was denied a refund, even under emergency conditions and no adjustment for being given a lower rate room. Service is very lacking at this property and it was dirty. A pleasant enough cheap hotel. Food was OK although we only ever ate lunch here as there were better places nearby. Room was not that comfortable, bed was old and creaky, air conditioning was not particularly effective and there was frequently no water from the taps.
