"It’s on the water front, only a very short walk, quarter mile from the center of town. There is not much surrounding the area, but if you have a car, there is parking available. The owner is very accommodating and will advise and help. This is Tonga, so you should not expect commercial level of accommodations. Everything is clean and comfortable, with hot water in the shower."

"The Matafouna Lodge is amazing. The location is beautiful. The fales were comfortable with a porch, comfortable bed, and glass windows. The shower facility was convenient and very nice with ceramic tiles and privacy (and most importantly, hot water). The staff were friendly. The food was very good (the seafood pizza was delicious). "We went to the Royal Sunset with 6 of our Tongan young friends who help us at a humanitarian clinic we work in. We are leaving Tonga and wanted to thank them for all they do. We decided to spend the night at the Royal Sunset. The rooms were filthy. The linens were stained and the rooms were unbearably hot. The pool water was brown. "Fantastic stay. very nice beach.....swim, snorkel right from hotel. The good: Location - I would rather stay at Vakaloa (30+ minutes from Nuku'alofa than the other way around. Beachfront - Sloped beach.... and coral, but sandy (crushed coral).... can walk barefoot Kayak - They were free to borrow Snorkeling - Free snorkel gear.
