**BEFORE YOU BOOK!** Read on to ensure our quirky property is the right fit for your getaway:
Pets: We love hosting dogs, so let us know if you plan to bring your furry friend(s) along and we'll send you our pet agreement and fee. Our pet fee is $20 per dog per night (free after the third night).
The Vibe: When we say "historic,” we mean historic—some of our digs stretch back 100 years, and sometimes, our “old school” shows. This can mean drafts when it’s cold out, some summer heat, and you’re bound to see an occasional four-to-eight-legged friend around the property. We like to think of ourselves as an extension of the Front Range ecosystem, so it’s all part of the fun!
WiFi & Cell: WiFi is limited throughout our canyon. We offer the best we can, but don’t expect to Zoom into meetings (or much of anything, internet-wise). Cell service is limited on the property at this time, so try to pull up your cabin and check-in instructions before you arrive. Please also note that weather can impact satellite TV strength in the area, as WiFi coverage has to be beamed through satellite dishes.
Safety: For the safety of our guests, we maintain outdoor security cameras to monitor wildlife visits, fire risks, hazardous elements, and other safety protocols (public spaces only). Please note our property is wild and rugged, with cliff features, boulders, slopes, uneven surfaces, river access, and regular wildlife visits (bear, elk, wild cats, and more). Use caution around any natural terrain, understand and follow wildlife safety practices, and abide by our pet, fire, hot tub (if your unit includes one), and on-site rules as posted in your cabin guide. Hot tubs [if applicable] are for use at your own risk and not protected by a gate; the hosts are not responsible for injuries resulting from the use of the hot tub. Guests shall hereby indemnify and hold harmless the Owner against any and all claims of personal injury or property damage or loss arising from the use of the property, inclusive of but not limited to the house, hot tub, fire pits, etc., regardless of the nature of the accident, injury, or loss.
Seasonal Information: Winters & Shoulder Season: Winter in Estes is magical, and we’re happy to make recommendations on activities! While US-34 east of the Park remains open and plowed, if you’re planning to visit during the winter/shoulder season, consider snow tires and any other supplies you may want for winter conditions. Trail Ridge Rd and other routes over the continental divide close seasonally every year, so access to Grand Lake and the western part of RMNP requires rerouting through I-70 to the south (which adds about 3-4 hours to the trip). During winter, watch out for snow shedding from roofs and icy/snowy walkways along our rugged grounds. We’ll send more winter info about a month before arrival.
Summer/Early Fall: This is the high season! Note that certain cabins and suites can get toasty during the daytime, but night typically cools off significantly. Fire season typically falls between summer and early fall in the area, so air quality may be unhealthy during this time, particularly among sensitive groups.
Check out the Rocky Mountain National Park website ahead of time for more information on Timed Entry Permits during peak season (typically May-October).
Let us know if you have questions! We hope you enjoy this neck of the woods as much as we do. Holler if you want to chat. Welcome to The Woolly Bugger Inn! To respect our community, fellow guests, and neighbors (plant and animal neighbors included!), we ask that our guests agree to a few house rules during their stay. Give us a holler with any policy questions or concerns you may have!
Pets: Our pet fee is $20 per dog per night (for up to the first 3 nights, then after your third night, dogs stay free!). We can accommodate a maximum of two dogs (and dogs only at this time), but get in touch with us if you have a special circumstance. Let us know if you plan to bring your furry friend(s) along, and we’ll share our full policy.
Leave No Trace: Respecting public lands and waters, Native and local communities, and our property is important to us. Please leave what you find and dispose of waste properly.
Garbage and Food Storage: Estes Park is active bear habitat! Please secure the bear-proof dumpster latch and secure your trash and food items to prevent wildlife break-ins (which put both your life and the animal’s life in danger).
Fire Safety: Your cabin is located in a region extremely susceptible to wildfires, so we take fire risk very seriously. To prevent catastrophic wildfires, injury, property damage, and strain on our local fire departments, we have a few rules: no fireworks on the grounds, absolutely no bonfires during periods with fire bans, properly control and extinguish bonfires (drown using a bucket of river water, then use the stir-mix-feel method), turn off grills after use, do not leave grills or fires unattended, and obtain fire permits for any bonfires created on surrounding public lands.
Quiet Hours: Quiet hours begin at 10 pm and end the following morning at 8 am.
Extra Guests: We don’t permit extra guests beyond what’s listed in your cabin’s capacity max. If you plan to invite non-guests on site for any reason, please have your plans pre-approved with a member of our team.
Events: At this time, we don’t allow guest events (such as weddings, parties, and so forth) at the property. We’re happy, however, to book your larger-sized group in multiple coinciding rooms at the hotel as long as you maintain respect and capacity numbers in each unit, keep noise levels to a minimum, and respectfully share communal spaces with guests outside your party.
Smoking: All of our units are non-smoking, but if guests need to smoke, we ask that they abide by a few rules. Please get in touch with us for our policies covering where to smoke, marijuana guidelines, cleanup, and violations.
Early Check-In and Late Check-Out: At this time we’re unable to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs, but please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have a unique situation.
Cancellation: Please contact us for more information on cancellation policies and refunds.

Very cute cozy cabin. Very private nice access to river. My dogs loved it and he deck was nice for them. Maintenance man checking the property to keep the place safe and kept. We felt very comfortable. Great location the hot tub under starry night was sweet.
My friend and I were passing through and wish we got to stay longer! Cutest cabin inside and out with a hot tub. Gorgeous, quiet location next to a creek which was very relaxing. We enjoyed everything about our stay here, wonderful getaway! We pulled in to elk on the property which was a huge plus! Highly recommend, dog friendly too!
Everything we could have asked for! Cozy cabin that was clean and everything you would need. Loved the Thompson River right outside or back door. Minutes from Estes Park. We will for sure stay again!
We absolutely loved our stay here! I was moving from Montana down to Texas and our trip didn’t go as planned, but the staff was so nice and accommodating moving our reservation around for us. We ended up staying an extra night to just rest up more and enjoy the beautiful scenery and cabin. Our 9 month old Husky boy was well received with everyone and that’s hard to find when you’re traveling!
We LOVED this cabin it was right on the river and had beautiful surroundings, the hot tub and deck were perfect to sit out and enjoy the sounds of nature and the river sounds. The cabin was clean and we enjoyed cooking breakfast and dinner and eating out on the porch. It was also very private surrounding even with people staying in the other cabins. It is definitely on our list to come back to.
The cabin was everything we hoped it would be. Far exceeded our expectations. The cabin was rustic but absolutely adorable. The river was only a few short steps from our door and it was so beautiful and peaceful. We will 100% be back. We thought this was the “perfect cabin”
The booking experience for this cabin was really smooth and easy. The hosts immediately messaged with any information you need for the stay. The hosts are very friendly and easy to get ahold of. It's a cozy little cabin perfect for 2 people on the edge of the river. The private hot tub has always been clean and it is perfectly positioned for stargazing in at night! There is a kitchen with everything you may need and if you can't find something they have a little area you can go to and get the item. We've already booked the cabin again!
We couldn’t have asked for anything better! The location was great, and the river just feet away from our door was amazing and exactly what we were looking for. The cabin was cozy, clean, and supplied with everything needed. It was the perfect getaway spot and would definitely stay here again!
My husband and I travel everywhere with our dog. The Beaver Lodge cabin was absolutely perfect for us. Drinking our coffee every morning on the private porch while looking out at and listening to the babbling brook was pure bliss. 10 out of 10! We will definitely be staying here again!
Thanks Kyle, Krissy and team!
The cabin is conveniently located just minutes from downtown Estes. The property is nestled in the mountains along Big Thompson River. There were several areas set up to enjoy the natural beauty. We built a fire near the rock wall which had a spectacular view. Our cabin was super cozy, clean and well appointed. We loved the décor and the bed was extremely comfortable. We enjoyed our morning coffee and listening to the river as we relaxed on the back porch. This is our new favorite stop over spot. Communication with the host was top notch from the day we booked and departed. Can't wait to return:)
My son and I stayed one night at the Beaver Lodge, a two person cabin with a perfectly furnished mini-kitchen and open room. We spent time reading in hammocks and chairs by the river when we weren't hiking in RMNP. Used the grill and ate on the porch overlooking the river. Bethany met us just as we arrived and gave us great information about the park and the cabin. We thoroughly enjoyed unplugging and having a peaceful stay. Next time will probably pay for later check out time as we would have liked to linger longer. Other cabins are close by, but the noise was minimal. Highly recommended!
My bf and I visited Colorado to do some hiking so we wanted to be close to rocky mountain. There are a bunch of units when you first pull into the lot. I think we picked the best one. Only neighbors on one side and I'm pretty sure no one was using it while we were there. The property is on a rushing river which was soothing to hear at night. We loved using the hot tub after a long hike and cooked dinner using the pans and grill provided by management. The only downside I can even think of is that the bathroom gets a little wet when you shower because there's no lip around the shower. Wasn't an issue though, we just put down extra towels. Overall, loved this unit. Wished we booked more days here so we could've utilized the fire pit and hammock. The owners were very nice and attentive to our messages. I absolutely recommend this sweet little cabin.
Online when they said rustic, they meant it, and it was absolutely perfect! Exactly what I was envisioning for my cabin vacation in the snowy mountains. There was an issue with the septic at the cabin we originally booked, but they were on it immediately! They called right away to move us to a different cabin, and it was even an upgrade (woo!) When we arrived, the keypad for the door wouldn’t unlock (…. May have been user error…) But the property manager, Steve was there to the rescue within seconds. Apparently I was just a bit impatient; who knew, lol. The house was a little drafty, but we knew it would be like that in an old cabin so it was great that we had full control of the thermostat and the fireplace in the living room so we definitely stayed warm and cozy the entire time. (Btw - Safeway has firewood for anyone looking… I highly recommend taking advantage of your private fire pit area!!) It snowed almost every day and we had the absolute most beautiful view from of the abundance of windows that seemed to be perfectly placed on all sides of the house. The running water was hot and steady, there were a bazillion towels provided, all the necessities for cooking, and THE HOT TUB! I think we spent 3/4 nights in there. It was amazing. All of the maintenance people were friendly, Steve was great (sorry if we startled you when we went into the supply house), and the neighborhood was peaceful. 10/10 guys… you did awesome.— also a special thank you to Ariel (sp.?) and the customer service team Our power went out due to a vehicle hitting the pole and Ariel was ON IT! Texted me right away, called multiple times to check on us and give us updates from the electric company/officer on site at the scene… and when she couldn’t someone else did! They basically stayed up to keep in contact until they knew we had power back. That’s a gold star for you ladies… thank you!If you had any doubts about booking here - lose them! This is by far one of my best experiences booking a vacation home and if I’m ever back in Estes I will be looking here first!Thank you everyone! Kyle and Krissy - you all did a fantastic job here
We decided to stop off for a few days on our way home from our daughter's wedding. It was just what the doctor ordered. It was quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The cabin was very clean and partially newly remodeled with great attention to detail. Right outside we were able to just sit by the river and decompress. The owner even came by to see how our stay was going and brought us firewood and everything to start a bonfire which added to the relaxing stay. We will definitely be back!
