The best areas to stay in Etosha are within Etosha National Park itself, specifically at the rest camps like Okaukuejo and Halali, or just outside the park's gates.Okaukuejo is a popular choice for its proximity to the park's main attractions and its famous floodlit waterhole. The camp offers various accommodation options, from basic campsites to comfortable chalets. It's located near the Anderson Gate, one of the primary entrances to the park, making it a convenient base for daily game drives. This camp is particularly good for families due to its range of facilities and access to the waterhole, where animals gather day and night.Halali, situated roughly in the middle of the park, provides a central location for exploring both the eastern and western sections of Etosha. Like Okaukuejo, Halali features a floodlit waterhole that attracts a variety of wildlife. It's a good option for couples who want a more secluded experience while still being within easy reach of game viewing opportunities. For those who prefer to stay outside the park, the areas around Anderson Gate offer several lodges and guesthouses. These accommodations often provide a higher level of comfort and additional amenities, such as swimming pools and guided safaris.

The best time to visit Etosha is during the dry season, from May to October, as this period offers optimal wildlife viewing opportunities.During these months, animals congregate around the limited waterholes, making them easier to spot. The vegetation is also sparser, providing clearer sightlines for observation. You'll experience warm, sunny days and cool nights, which are comfortable for game drives. For travelers who prefer fewer crowds and don't mind slightly cooler temperatures, May and October are excellent choices. The transition months still offer good animal sightings, and the park is less busy, allowing for a more focused wildlife experience. If your priority is seeing a high concentration of animals and you don't mind the peak season popularity, July and August are ideal.
