2/5

The property needs about $10 million of renovations. Cool idea (dark history with an historic feel) ... but when you exact first class fees for services ... that's what customers then expect. Poorly lit, not clean rooms that need new bedding, new electrical, and new bath fixtures. Grounds in rough shape ... 30 year old pool area; hot tub that looks purchased from Home Depot. Understaffed restaurant. Great attitude in the younger staff ... but its clear the owners have not reinvested a cent for 10 years or more. Too bad.

Fun historic place to stay. Staff were great! We did the ghost tour which was an excellent way to learn about the hotel history.

The haunted aspect is pretty neat. The ghost tours are fun. The grounds are meticulous. The church below has a beautiful walking path connected to the Crescent. The lobby is charming. The rooms themselves are definiately not $300 a night rooms. The hotel is old, therefore tge walls are settling. There are cracks in the walls, the paint is chipped off in gouges in spots. The bathroom door did not lock, or even shut no matter how we tried to lift the door to get the lock to line up. Room 428. The toilet also required subtle manupulation to get it to refill. I had to remove the lid and manually push the plug back shut after every flush or it would constantly run. We ordered a pizza to be delivered to our room after the ghost tour and they forgot to deliver it. So we wnded up having to go pick it up. Not a big deal when your room is just down the hall, but the bar was closing and the staff really did not seem to want to stop to answer my question as to where my pizza was. Realistically, had I spent $100 a night I would have been great with the experiece and would have recommended it to everyone. Not at this price point. Stay at the Edelweiss. Fairly cost effective motel. Rooms better condition, amazing owner who goes way out of his way to make th our stay delightful.
