Good but relatively expensive, inattentive staffPosted Jan 18, 2015
We had a 5 day break after a month of Indian travel. Be aware that the rooms in a block are different configurations. We asked to be moved to a room with a balcony rather than a glassed in view. The hotel charges western prices but still is in India and staff can be inattentive. Early check in is not available ( an elderly couple languished between the restaurant and foyer after arriving at 7am until 1:30pm!) nor is late checkout (we were offered until 12pm although we were prepared to pay until 3pm) despite low occupancy. The WiFi is not free in your room however is within the lobby. We had breakfast included which was important after our travels and food was generally good quality. Prices are again relatively high however. The hotel is isolated but there are a few beach shacks for variety and the beach is suitable, even for small children. Make sure to advise staff of your requirements for cleaning well in advance and also front desk staff. My wife was unwell and is quite private regarding room servicing. Given advice that we would be out (seeking medicine) we returned after 3 hours to find the room unserviced despite a phone call to housekeeping. The hotel is reminiscent of time share places and, as such, has good facilities. Vehicle rental is available a couple of 100 metres up the road as is an airport transfer service.

Not a 5 Star Hotel! Go Elsewhere!Posted Jan 10, 2014
Cons: Housekeeping Property Maintenance Food
My husband and I stayed at this hotel from Dec 29th - Jan 1st. The Hotel has excellent airport pick up services that was quick and prompt. The hotel is 20 minutes from the airport and have a nice location on the beach. The hotel by no means comes close to a 5 star luxury hotel as advertised. The rooms are absolutely filthy, mold infested with urine and blood stains on the sheets. We were shown 3 different rooms because nothing was remotely close to bearable. We settled on the 3rd room shown as they claim it was a "suite". It took a day and a half to speak to a manager. No hotel requests or services were ever dealt with in a timely manner. Be prepared to wait 30 minutes for a cup of tea. They claim the resort has a private beach but it is merely a private walkway to the public beach. We were coerced into a Mandatory New Years Eve Gala that felt like we were at an Indian Wedding. The food was substandard and always cold. The wifi connection was very poor. My husband and I left the hotel and checked out early than what was planned. Best decision we made.

Not a 5 star hotelPosted Dec 10, 2013
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: The rooms really need a revamp. Furnishing is very old and stained. Rooms smell damp. Private garden and patio not clean or well maintained
Location: Great beach with beach huts and restaurant - easy access via taxis to most of the sites
The hotel is definitely not a 5 star hotel. The condition of the rooms is really poor - furnishings are old and worn and the general cleanliness of rooms is really not good. Location is excellent - close to beach and the hotel staff are really helpful and friendly

The room was comfortable but the service was awfulPosted Oct 2, 2013
The room was good but service was awful. When I asked for a towel the housekeeping took an hour to bring one. I had forgotten a chocolate in the fridge and I phoned later and they said housekeeping did not find anything. Obviously it was found and eaten by the staff. Something unbecoming of a hotel of Royal Orchid's status!

Horrible roomsPosted Oct 2, 2013
We are young couple and stayed at Royal Orchid for 2 nights. The room was all mouldy and had disgusting smell of damp. After making a complaint we were moved to a different room. However it was still pretty dirty and mouldy. Staff not helpful. Tried to rip us off on taxi bookings. Also there was load music playing at 9am on Sunday morning. Very nice beach. Only had breakfast at the hotel. Food was average. I am so glad we only had it booked for 2 nights. If you are after pleasant stay, definitely choose a different hotel.

Super friendly staff, the most friendly in India!Posted Sep 27, 2013
Pros: Great staff. Good food.
Cons: They probably need the party income, but boy, was it loud from 8pm till 11pm.
Location: Beach, pool, restaurant, then you have to take an expensive taxi or tour bus to see the sights (Hindu temple, Catholic churches, other beaches).
Close to beach, loud parties 1 to 2x a week. Wi-fi goes off and on. But the Staff is Amazing. Food is good. Atmosphere VERY relaxing. Most massage shops closed except for tourist season (Nov 1st...) Taxi throughout Goa VERY expensive.
