"Everything was wonderful. The room was beautiful and extremely comfortable. The staff was great. Extremely attentive and friendly. It was our 56th wedding anniversary and they sent a nice chachuterie board to our room. Every evening the maid came by with a sweet treat for each room. The property is very nice and right on the bay. Very relaxing atmosphere . I would definitely consider returning to the Amaka Lodge "

"This is a lovely place, but I can't give it a great review because on the day we checked-in no one was available at the hotel to answer the phone. Answering the phone when you have guest traveling from out of country, and to a very remote location is standard basic custom service. For whatever reason we could not find our email confirmation the day we were scheduled to arrive and we called and called for 5 hours straight on a Saturday between 12noon-5pm and no one answered the phone. "Luxury in the heart of nature. Botanika is a beautiful Hilton Curio property located opposite the airport (not a problem) on the edge of a lovely piece of jungle property on the edge of the bay. To be clear the bay is a bit of a walk from the property but there are nature walking trails. Pros: Modern, clean rooms; thoughtful staff & housekeeping); excellent restaurant and bar at pool; and a fantastic pool/Jacuzzi they have bulk sunscreen (great idea). The beach shuttle (4x4 Land Cruiser) takes you to a private, quiet paradise with full beach bar & menu. We literally were the only ones on the beach for a 1/2 mile each way. We had a wonderful lunch after a few restful hours walking, swimming and lounging They provided beach towels. Walk back to the Crocodile Bay property and Dining: Great breakfast but a bit pricey, dinner was very nice at the restaurant. The pool bar’s quesadilla was an amazing choice. Service: The restaurant staff and drivers are all wonderful—incredibly friendly/helpful. "

"We spent 3 nights at Playa Nicuesa, and were totally bowled over. This place really is a hidden gem, and all the staff work hard to make it that way. Everything about our stay ran so smoothly, from our pickup and boat transfer on arrival, to our departure. Beautiful location, so calm and peaceful. Wonderful staff, all very friendly, polite and knowledgeable, and great that they always remembered our names! Olman's welcome on the pier and his easygoing manner made us feel at home straight away. We loved our room (which was spotlessly clean) - the furnishings and the wrap-around balcony with its jungle view and sounds. So much wildlife to watch and listen to! We particularly enjoyed our trail walks with the guides Oscar and Jean-Carlos, and I felt totally chilled after my massage with Isabella. The food was always freshly prepared and delicious. We're so glad we stayed here, and hope to return one day."

"As a Tico used to the standard formal check-in process, my experience at this hotel was a refreshing departure from the norm. Instead of a traditional reception desk, we were greeted personally by the owners, who took the time to show us the property and ensure we were settled. Their deep local knowledge and accommodating nature truly set the tone for the stay. The Atmosphere This is the place to go if you are looking for a genuine mental and physical detox. It is important to note that this is not a "party" hotel—there is no loud music in the common areas. It is designed for those looking to escape stress and noise. I returned home feeling recharged rather than tired, which is a rare and welcome result of a vacation. Dining & Drinks The culinary experience is a highlight. While they don’t serve a traditional "Tico" breakfast, the healthy options provided were excellent and gave me plenty of energy for the day. Honestly, there is no need to head into town for lunch or dinner; the food here is some of the best in the area in terms of both quality and cost. For those who enjoy a drink, the bar is well-stocked with a great variety of liquors and a consistently cold supply of beer. Service & Amenities Service: The staff is incredibly polite and helpful. Whether I needed a lighter or specific food requests, they were attentive and professional. Cleanliness: The room cleaning service was flawless.
