It is quite small and cosy But very very quite so guests tended to talk very low and the atmosphere was a bit stiff , nice to go if your looking for a bit of peace and quiet. The breakfast: I had pancakes off the hot food menu, they were inedible , soggy and burnt . continental buffet small but what was on offer was fresh. breads were not nice, cheap sliced pan toast, and plain soda bread , no other healthy options . No tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms which was very disappointing, reception appeared friendly but very fake and put on . The staff are wonderfully friendly and efficient while being nice and relaxed as well. Between the lovely walks, excellent food and relaxed and welcoming atmosphere I would have to give Marlfield 10/10\. Because we both like to swim, it would have been nice if there was a leisure pool but it was not a major issue. The food was fantastic. My only issue was that the room was way to hot. The room was beatiful and the bed compfy. Great location. Lots of character. Beautiful gardens and woodland. Very comfortable. Amazing food in both restaurants. Fabulous boutique location which is warm and welcoming from your first step through the front door until you leave. Staff we're great always there when there but never 'in your face' and the restaurants have a great selection of food both festive and non-festive. If you want a relaxing, sit back beside a warm fire with a nice drink reading the paper and soaking the festive time of year, then this is the place.
