“Front desk was manned by a very disinterested and unpleasant woman, told me I had to pay a $50 a night deposit. I have never in my life been asked to pay anything like this. I wasn’t informed prior to making this reservation, if I had been I would have looked elsewhere. Breakfast was supposed to be “7-9”. I also assumed that meant there would be food to choose from through 9:00. I suggest if you’re hungry you should get there early. Even having said that it wasn’t much of a breakfast.”

“The property itself was overall clean, but there are definitely some areas for improvement. There is no hot tub as advertised and half of the lights in the pool area were out. The breakfast left something to be desired, food was not refilled when out, and it was difficult to find someone in the mornings for assistance. We stayed there for 3 nights and didn't see the housekeeping cart one time. We stayed in an accessible room because I have mobility issues but it would be impossible to……

“I travel to So. Illinois annually to visit but this is my first stay at the Makanda Inn. It will not be my last. I had a very peaceful stay- after long days of family visit and running around with the grands, it was so nice to stay here where it was quiet and relaxing. Breakfast every morning was top notch and just the right portions.”
