Room was dusty. Food was somewhat good. Very much overpriced.
What a spectacular place.. the Acajou & Grand Riviere. Everywhere was clean and well kept, staff were super helpful and the food at the restaurant (breakfast, lunch and dinner) was excellent. Couldn’t fault it.
I really loved the ambience and vibe at this hotel. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. The lunch and dinner was tasty even though they ran out of shark. The beach was easily accessible and the locals were friendly. I LOVE MY COUNTRY!
Very laid back and relaxing. Excellent birdwatching nearby. Quite rough sea when we were there but you can sit on the beach and swim in the river on the inland side. Friendly staff.

Disliked: Amenities
The ambience is best for a get away and total relaxation. Some simple upgrades to room amenities will increase the comfort of this hotel.
We went to see the Leather Back turtles. An amazing experience all around. Our hut was just beautiful. Very comfortable. Quiet and clean. Loved every minute of out stay. The staff was wonderful as well.
Acajou offered exactly what my wife and I needed for a short staycation. A few minutes walk to the beach which walks more of having your own private getaway. The food was home cooked and delicious. Very friendly and courteous staff who were more than accommodating. We had the ability to see nesting turtles from our hut! Will be rebooking and recommending. Thank you Acajou!
Kim and Kelly thank you so much for your kindness and care. Excellent service daily and the food was outstanding. Compliments to the chef! The coconut bake and buljol (salt fish), the coconut cream king fish is still lingering on my taste buds. This place offers peacefulness, and quiet surrounded by nature was surreal. However, the invitation to share a birthday meal with (curry chicken and goat) with their friends and family! Unforgettable! Thank you so very much and see you again!

The beach and river were lovely. The sheets were cotton and comfortable. The bed was nice. The bathroom was clean. There is no A.C but the place is well ventilated and cool. The place can be fenced a bit better and I find it overall overpriced. 5 star hotels are priced like that and this is 3 star.

Liked: Staff & service
It was a rustic, elegant place. The restaurant was great. The rooms were ok, but being rustic they weren't the cleanest and we thought the room would have an AC but it didn't. One of the fans wasn't working but they were able to get it temporarily working for us.
We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay at Acajou. The reason for visiting was to see the Turtles and this certainly didn’t disappoint. We were privileged to go on a night walk where we saw females laying eggs and early morning we also could see Turtles. The beach is a very short walk from the hotel through the hotel gardens. Our cabin had a super view over the lagoon to the sea and a spacious deck to relax on. The room itself was extremely comfortable and the restaurant served delicious food. All the staff were friendly and cheerful and made our stay very special. The road to the property was a little challenging but that all added to the adventure. We had a great time.
A serene and picturesque location, with views of garden, river and beach. Saw nests of turtle eggs. The restaurant meals were lovely.
The only downside was that the rooms can be warm at night. I understand that is being sorted. Wooden interior walls can attract more dust etc, which needs to be addressed. Bats, bug screens etc, often require regular attention.
Overall, a lovely place to stay and enjoy nature.

A Peaceful Nature Paradise – My Stay at Acajou Hotel
My stay at the Acajou Hotel in Grande Riviere was beautiful and relaxing. The property feels like a tropical garden with coconut palms and lush vegetation. I especially loved the charming, separate wooden cabins, which offer plenty of privacy and come with balconies and hammocks – perfect for unwinding.
The rooms were clean, spacious, and well-equipped, with mosquito nets ensuring a restful sleep. From the dining area, you could watch hummingbirds – a magical experience! The hotel is beautifully situated by the river and offers access to the nearby beach.
However, the path to the beach was a bit challenging due to obstacles like a fallen tree. I also would have loved to see more fruit-bearing plants like papayas in the garden.
Despite these small issues, Acajou Hotel is a tranquil retreat, ideal for nature lovers and anyone seeking relaxation. I’d happily return!
I love the property, waking up to nature was just what I needed. Was a bit concerned, as the locals walk through the property as a short cut to and from the beach. Questioned my safety being that the latch on the back door wasn’t the most sturdy. Another, concern was the path to the beach wasn’t in the best condition, cleanliness, clear path.
Had to request for my room to be clean as the dust on the fans, table, and behind the toilet started to thicken and caused my allergies to flare up. Also, there was mold in my refrigerator. I mention these mishaps not to condemn Acajou hotel but as constructive criticism to do better. All the issues were rectified by a wonderful house keeper named Natasha. She extremely thorough at her job. While I’m mentioning staff, I can not forget, Jada, my breakfast server who always went above and beyond. And then there was Kim, who kept everything running smoothly. I’m so happy I found this hidden gem. My new home away from home💙
