The Engel House is adequate. Serviceable. Everything works. The prime space is very clean. The sleep area is comfortable but a bit rickety. The closet is unfinished and very cold. The bathroom and shower work but could use some safety features including handles. There is one lamp above the desk that works but the shade is tilted and unstable. It kind of symbolizes the decor. We really could not find breakfast nor any hot water for tea. There is no available phone service but the WiFi works well. The door knob to our room nearly fell apart when we arrived. By the morning, it had disassembled. The door to the bathroom did not close properly and that door knob is loose as well. Our stay worked. We sept well. Would we book The Engel House again? Unlikely. We travel often. Far and wide. We are not complainers, but we do keep our home not just neat and clean but also tight, sealed, assembled. With a bit more attention to detail, The Engel House could be a sparkling and welcoming treasure. As is, it is nearly adequate.

Arrived after dark. Didn’t know where to park. Very secluded. Outside light would not stay lit. Upstairs needs attention.

The inn is spectacular and the staff is great. The o Lu bad thing is that you can hear everything, including walking, in rooms above and next to yours in the inn. It would be great if the hotel made more of an effort to make guests aware of this so people can have a more restful stay.

The convenience of the tap room for dinner was nice. Beautiful views of the lake and amenities for water sports when the weather permits. Could use a mattress topper. Enjoyed our stay.
