Historic Fully Restored 1929 Caboose in Beautiful North Georgia Mountains

Adults-only vacation home in Clayton
Even though listing details are provided, questions I've been asked. YES, the caboose has a fully functional, tricked out bathroom, in the silo adjacent to it (see photos and reviews). YES, the caboose has Air Conditioning & Heat in caboose and bathroom. YES, there is Hot Water in the bathroom. YES, there's an HD LCD televisions with Sound Bar, and with full DirectTV line-up of channels, along with Netflix and other streaming services. YES, wifi is provided. In other business - No more than 2 adults, TWO NIGHT MINIMUM, no children, no pets, no smoking, non-smokers only please, and no discounts ever given. No veteran's discount, as I myself am a Viet Nam era vet. NO exceptions ever! I WILL NOT RESPOND if you write asking for exceptions. ---- Now the GOOD stuff: Located just one mile from fabulous Lake Burton, our 1929 vintage C&O caboose has just undergone a top-to-bottom restoration and upgrade, with shades of the luxury Pullman cars of yesteryear. No detail was ignored to allow for a truly unique getaway experience. (Figure of speech. The caboose does not actually go anywhere) Though located adjacent to our also-historic general store-turned antique store, Black Bear Creek Antiques, you will have lots of privacy and space to call your own; private entrance, dedicated parking, waterfall and mountain spring creek just 20 feet away, and easy access to great restaurants (Five of the Top 10 Chefs in GA have restaurants within 10 miles of here) and shopping in nearby Clayton, and all the natural wonders the area has to offer. There's even a working organic vegetable farm just across the road!
Rooms open to patios. Bathrooms include showers.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

Caboose getaway
We booked this place last minute and thought that it would a fun experience. Jim the owner was in contact with us until we arrived and was waiting outside upon our arrival to give us the keys and a quick walkthrough. It’s amazing to see the before and after pictures of this actual caboose. It was equipped with everything that you needed. Everything was in perfect order and the bathroom that was located out the back door in a silo was like a brand new and very clean. You can tell that Jim is very meticulous about everything and every detail within the caboose and silo bathroom. My only issue was that it is right off the highway, so if you’re a light sleeper this could bother you. The air conditioner/heater unit in the ceiling does drown out most of the noise and as the night goes on the cars become less and less. We were just 5 miles from Clayton GA and we had a great dinner in town each night and went to the Rusty Bike Cafe for breakfast and had a great breakfast each day. Lake Burton was just a few miles down the road and we enjoyed taking a drive around the lake. Jim’s shop next door looked like a neat place to shop but it was only open on the weekends for now. We would definitely stay there again if we are in the area.

Perfect!
The location is perfect! Nice and quiet for the most part. It was so peaceful to listen to the waterfall from inside the caboose. The comfort of the pullout couch was very nice. The shower in the silo was perfect also. Had a very relaxing weekend here and will be back!

Loved our little caboose experience!!
We had a wonderful experience at Mr. Jim’s caboose! The hospitality shown was impeccable. He was very understanding when we were hours late on arrival and waited up for us. Make sure you put in Black Bear “Creek” Antiques and not just Black Bear Antiques unless you just “want” to drive an extra 1.5 hrs. Haha! He made sure we had all that we needed and allowed us to borrow some much needed items to go fishing. He was very gracious! I really can’t say enough kind things about him and his significant other. Both were very warm and fun to be around! The caboose was very clean and a super fun experience. The fire pit was great! It was a secluded little spot where we could relax, have a few drinks, and dance by the fire. On a side note, my better half was struggling with the fire a bit (even though he would deny that haha) and Jim showed up and fixed us right up. Thanks, Jim! It was pretty cold out there, and we managed to keep all of our toes. The silo was super cool. It was definitely different, but I personally started having fun running back and forth barefoot to the shower. That’s about as rustic as I’ve ever been, so it was pretty neat! We loved the area and would recommend it to anyone. We had an excellent time. Pretty sure we will be back especially since my guy really wants that Indian statue. Too bad he has nowhere to put it! 😜There is an antique store next to the caboose with a waterfall beside it. Very pretty and nice to just sit and listen to while relaxing by the fire pit. Loved our experience! Thank you for having us!

Fun getaway near tons of eateries
Though accommodations were literally right off a busy road, the tiny house-like with train theme was very cool and the more-than-ample silo bathroom was just outside with mostly covered walkway. WiFi and TV great and air worked like a charm!

5/5 Excellent

Great fun
Excellent and unique experience, Clayton is an awesome little town and staying in the caboose made it a magical trip as though we were in the past visiting the future.
