I was at a frozen glacial lake called Štrbské pleso. It's one of the most iconic landmarks in Slovakia. It is really amazing to walk on it! And to see so many people having fun! With their friends, family and classmates. It was a beautiful early March day. I had a great winter holiday this year in Slovakia :). The views were really stunning everywhere! In my post-processing work I did edit out a construction site (or whatever it is. I never got close enough to see). So, if you visit Štrbské pleso don't be surprised it is there! And more info about Štrbské pleso: It's the 2nd-largest glacial lake on the Slovak side of the High Tatras, Maximum depth is 20 metres (66 ft). Surface elevation is 1,346 m (4,416 ft). As the oldest hotel in Zakopane, its history is reflected in beautiful architectural details—carved woodwork, grand staircases, and classic finishes that give the building timeless character. Photos truly do not do this hotel justice. While a few cosmetic elements show their age, the important details—comfort and atmosphere—are outstanding. The beds are exceptionally comfortable with plush down pillows, high-quality down comforters, and crisp cotton bedding. Bathrooms are spacious and modern with excellent amenities. My room even had a lovely terrace overlooking the street, and despite being close to everything in town, nights were remarkably quiet. The breakfast buffet was the best I experienced during my two weeks in Poland—abundant, fresh, and beautifully presented. The staff were lovely, especially the reception team, who were very welcoming. The same level of friendliness wasn’t always reflected by the housekeeping team, but overall the service was still good. Breakfast was a real highlight — very enjoyable — and the water machines on each floor offering unlimited sparkling, cold, or room-temperature water were a great touch. One thing to note is that the spa and facilities close at 12 each day, which we weren’t aware of in advance, and they also fully close by 9pm in the evening. Additionally, as there were quite a few families with children staying, areas like the gym and spa/swimming facilities could feel a bit busier at times.
