We would like to state the hosts are exceptional. The location is exactly as described.Upon our arrival, we immediately noticed the following: Sour smell; broken lamp; electrical outlets with loose, removed, or hanging cover plates; missing doorknobs; dreadfully stained carpet. We took photos and contacted the hosts. They immediately replied they had not visited their property in months and if there were additional issues to let them know. Additional issues: Light bulbs were burned out or not present -no replacement bulbs were available; no hand towels or face cloths in the bathrooms \[we purchased some\]; no kitchen hand towels or oven mitts \[we purchased some\]; cobwebs inside lamp shades; patio screen door is off the runner and easily comes off the runner again once replaced; back porch door knob does not function; outdoor grill would not heat above 300 degrees; food and spices in the kitchen cabinets are OLD / Expired and needs to be thrown out \[a bottle of syrup was dated 2009!\]; the inside of these cabinets need to be cleaned; kitchen cabinet drawers need upgrading...they are literally falling apart; no sharp knives available \[we took our own bc of a previous visitor's comment\]. Even with the above issues, we would have given this property a higher rating if not for the carpet. It needs to go!!! The house was perfect for our needs. It is under 3 miles to downtown Highlands which came in clutch when vacationing with 3 kids who needed to head home at parts of the day for nap times. Countertops were dirty when we arrived and there were no paper towels to clean them. Smelled a little like dog but that faded with a little Fabreeze. Can’t beat the location. After picking up our sons from camp, we traveled here to reconnect with the boys and enjoy a weekend in Highlands. The home was very well equipped with everything we could ever need and more. We felt right at home! The neighborhood is quiet and secluded. The home is on a beautiful mountain road that was great for walking the dog and enjoying the mountain air. While tucked in the woods, property is still in close proximity to town, farmers market, grocery store, Nature Center, waterfalls and trails. We had a wonderful time listening to the rain and watching movies. The beds are very comfortable, the home is very clean and the kitchen has everything you need plus some which made our stay very enjoyable and easy. Also, thanks for the assortment of coffee. We were so pleased with everything. From the quiet and secluded area, the excellent decor, and the fact that it was well-equipped and had easy access to the town of Highlands made our stay an excellent one I want to re-iterate what another guest said, "Once you turn onto Ridgewood Rd, please pay attention to the One Way Drive sign. Our GPS took us the wrong way. " Maybe add this message to your email to guests. Jeff and Kathleen are wonderful hosts. ##### June U. Quiet, serene and seemingly uninhabited. Although Highlands is conveniently located only 2 miles away, we did not see or hear one moving vehicle on the driveway the entire duration of our stay. Once you turn onto Ridgewood Rd, please pay attention to the One Way Drive sign. Our GPS took us the wrong way. Jeff and Kathleen are wonderful hosts and will respond immediately to any questions you might have. Stress free!
