The hotel has an excellent central location and occupies a beautifully renovated former bank building. Parking is conveniently available directly across the street. Unfortunately, however, the price is very high for the accommodation and level of service provided. The front desk did not appear to be permanently staffed. Staff generally remained in the area behind the entrance lobby and breakfast room, which made them difficult to locate whenever assistance was needed. We encountered a similar problem in the basement bar, where the bar staff were frequently out of sight. The much-promoted “speakeasy” was disappointing. In reality, it felt like a small, brightly lit hotel basement bar with very little atmosphere and did not live up to the description. There were also very few customers there, even on a Friday evening. The building and location have considerable appeal, but the hotel appears to be priced like a luxury property in the centre of a major city without offering the corresponding facilities, atmosphere or attentive service. We would consider staying again when visiting Houghton, but only if the rates were reduced considerably.

Please put the body wash inside the bathtub!! Staff, in the dinning if you having the hot water in the coffee machine please take out the counter, I have to asked for water and the staff replied with no good manners point to that the hot water was in the coffee machine.
