Amazing place
Spent 2 nights at the watermill with my partner. We had room 4 just at the top of the stairs. Small but very clean and comfortable. Food was amazing. Breakfast was really good lots of choice. Great staff fab place

Good evening meal, good breakfast just needed to cook the bacon & especially the sausages more (we specially asked for well done bacon & sausages) & keep the baked beans hot not lukewarm which spoiled the meal. Room very small & compact & beware of the very large wooden beam which is very low in the middle of the room. Would definitely eat a lunch/dinner meal again when passing.

After a soaking on my motorbike I was welcomed with a warm smile & an offer of drying out my motorbike gear overnight. A warm cosy restaurant served delicious food & a much needed cold beer couldn’t ask for more

Disappointing Room
I’d firstly like to say the staff were fantastic and the food was great, breakfast options are a big plus. The issue was the room. Rooms 5 and 6 are loft rooms, so even though the square footage seems reasonable, the amount of space you can uses is limited. My husband 5ft 8” kept hitting his head on the beam and hitting his leg on the bed. The shower is extremely small unless you’re a size 6. The room was dated and not in a great state of repair. Being in the loft it was far too hot, especially if you’re travelling with a dog. Overlooking the car park and the main road, it was quite noisy with the windows open. There was no fridge to keep dog food cool. If we could’ve found another room somewhere else when we arrived, we would have taken it. Bowness and Ambleside were beautiful and fortunately overrode any disappointment with the room. Sorry, really wanted to love it.

good friendly hotel
Really good pub hotel with excellent multi choice real ale made at the onsite brewery. This is a dog friendly pub but there is a no dog go zone restaurant and bar on site as well.

Very good stay. Quiet yet easy access to main lkes
Great homely pub where you are welcomed in and have a good resturant on site with delicious range of local ales and a warm fire. Breakfast excellent. Bus from a stop 2 mins walk away runs all day and into the late evening taking you pretty much anywhere in the lakes with great scenery to see on route.

The room (6) was very tight and head room was really bad ( always banging your head on the low beam. Bathroom was super tight …. If you were to be a 6ft 2in 15 stone bloke you would find it unusable!! Road noise was bad.😬 I would not stay again…. 😢

We are very transparent in advertising our rooms on an individual basis and show the limited head height etc in our photographs and descriptions. The property itself looks charming however it’s by a noisy highway and since we were in a poky little room upstairs and it was hot the window was open and the noise bothered us. Their COVID rules were laughable, wanting us to strip the bedding and bag it but not even cleaning and sanitizing tables between bookings in the pub. Won’t be back.

Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback. We are sorry you were unhappy with your room and couldn’t offer you a different one due to being full but as pointed out at the time we are very transparent when advertising all our rooms including the budget room you chose to book. In light of the pandemic, we have had to re-assess our operations and do kindly ask that you strip your bedding and bag it along with used towels. We do not demand our customers to do so and understand some people are unable to. We were there for very surprised that you demanded a 20% discount in helping us keep our staff safe. With regards to sanitising tables after each use (which we take very seriously) I have checked with the manager on duty during your stay and CCTV and have no evidence to back such a claim.

Excellent real ales from on-site brewery, so staying here is handy if you like good beer! Single room is quite small, but very clean and comfortable.
