Layover time was great

The breakfast in the form of a pie and muffin was not up to standard. A yoghurt and fruit with it would have been welcome.

Checking into my flight in BJM was easy enough, but there are a lot of steps to the process and the lines can get long if somebody has an issue. First you have to get out of your car and put your bags through a metal detector before driving up to the terminal. Then you and your bags go through another metal detector at the door to the airport. You then wait in line for check your bags which must weigh under 23kg (50lb) each. There are exit cards to the left that you can fill out while in line to check your bags-this will save you time going through passport control where the line moves quicker. You don’t need to print boarding passes-they will print you one using your passport for ID when you check your bags. They didn’t weigh my carry-on for this flight but I have heard others say they do weigh them, so have a plan to move stuff around if your carry-on is greater than 10kg (~22lb). The check line was long and moved slowly for me because a large group ahead of me was having issues with boarding passes. Once your bags are checked, you stop at a desk where a person checks your name off on the printed flight passenger register, then you go through passport control which is very easy (no fingerprint or picture involved). You then go through another Xray machine (depending on how quickly you move through, you may or may not have to take your shoes off, and I didn’t have to take my computer out of my bag either). Then you wait in the boarding area where there is a cafe and some duty free stores. Our flight left about an hour after its scheduled departure time because it took a long time to get everybody’s bags checked in, and we sat on the tarmac a while for “paperwork issues”. The flight was 25 min as advertised to Kigali and uneventful. No beverages or snacks because the flight is so short. When you get off the plane, make sure to have your ticket stub with you because there is a guy who checks them at the door (probably to make sure nobody who is continuing to NBO accidentally disembarks at KGL). If KGL is not your final destination, then follow the signs to connecting flights when you enter the airport from the tarmac. Most of the passengers will be going downstairs to enter the country so don’t follow the crowd if you are connecting. I would make sure you have at least a 2.5 hour layover in KGL if taking this flight, in case you experience a delay like I did, which appears to be a common occurrence.
