I booked this hotel for a stay for my husband’s birthday, thinking the price would be worth the experience. I was wrong.
Pre-arrival was promising from the reservations team wanting my partners name to personalise the stay and I also booked a room upgrade and some cupcakes for the room on arrival.
We took our dog and to be honest I he had a better time than we did. The upgraded room 304 with balcony was very nice I must admit. With a nice view of the loch. There was a nice bed, bowls and treats for my dog. He was happy.
However, that is where it ended for us. There was not any mention of my husband’s birthday, even the most basic hotels can leave a nice postcard in the room to say happy birthday for free. The cupcakes never arrived, even after calling reception they seemed not interested and I just said remove them from my bill. However no other goodwill gesture arrived.
Dinner at La Vista average at best, service was pretty average felt like any other mass market family restaurant. Fair enough with the dog we had limited choice of either there or the tavern for food.
On checkout the hotel tried to charge me for cupcakes I didn’t get, tried to tell me they were a food service charge. Then tried to charge me twice for a room upgrade. That the needed a manager to remove charges.
This is not a 5* hotel, it may look good but they don’t care about customer experience. Well not ours anyway. I wouldn’t return based on this stay, it fell way short of my expectations which is a shame.

The hotel was lovely with a large bedroom. The spa was very professional and the amenities were great. The breakfast was very good and staff very helpful. Enjoyed our stay in Irvine and would consider going back.
