Visiting this popular part of Japan can be an adventure, so why not go on a little road trip and check out some of the other cool population centers around Kosaka. Examples of places within a relatively short distance of Kosaka are Hirosaki, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the southeast, and Shichinohe, 35 miles (56 kilometers) to the southwest.
Akita is about 55 miles (89 kilometers) from Kosaka. This center contains a diverse range of things to see and do, like Shenshu Park, Akita Central Library and Selion. Atorian, Akita Municipal Gymnasium and Mt. Taihei Resort Park are a number of other visitor attractions worth checking out for those who would like to spend a while longer there.
Whether you're traveling on the well-worn tourst trail or the roads less traveled, understanding a few key Japanese phrases will endear you with the locals. "Isshoni odorimasenka?" is the Japanese way to say "Would you like to dance with me?" "Benjo wa doko desu ka?" ("Where's the toilet?") is another good phrase.
