Fani's Riverside Cottage, Kostel, Slovenia

A picture-perfect, romantic cottage, in a small hamlet, nestling between the forest and the River Kolpa, which offers an ideal retreat for up to 5 people who want to escape from it all.

Surrounded by trees, just 5 metres from its own private beach on the river, the house is entirely made of wood inside and out. The ground-floor open-plan living area with wooden floors and ceilings has a stove, a sofa and a flat-screen TV. A wooden corner staircase leads to the upstairs bedroom. The kitchen is just off the living room and is equipped with an induction hob, microwave, oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and coffee machine.

The outside space is as beautifully laid out as the interiors. There is a Finnish sauna, reached via the terrace. The raised stone terrace is furnished with a dining table and chairs for relaxed meals al fresco. An outdoor staircase leads up to the balcony. Further away from the house are two sun loungers, a BBQ and a summer house.

Sleeping
Bedroom: Tucked under the wooden eaves the bedroom has a double bed and a single bed, with an antique wardrobe. A door leads out to the carved wooden, covered balcony overlooking the river.
Extra: The sofa in the living room converts into a comfortable double bed

Bathroom
The tiled bathroom has a glass shower, basin and WC.

Location
The cottage is on the Kolpa River which marks Slovenia’s southern border with Croatia. This unspoiled region is known for its mighty forests, waterfalls, mountains and castles. There is so much for visitors to see and do. With many hiking trails through gorgeous landscapes, as well as scenic cycling routes. The pristine river offers fishing, rafting and kayaking. There is also tennis and even paintballing nearby.

The town of Petrina is 5 minutes away. The town’s bridge over the River Kolpa leads over to Croatia, to the town of Brod Na Kupi.

Ljubljana’s international airport is 1 hour 45 minutes away.
