At about 340 square kilometres (130 square miles), Lake Te Anau is the second-largest lake by surface area in New Zealand. The massive glacial lake runs more than 60 kilometres (40 miles) north to south. Lake Te Anau is located mainly within Fiordland National Park, the largest national park in New Zealand. Book huts and campsites in advance, as Kepler Track takes about 3 to 4 days to complete. Good fitness levels, hiking footwear and supplies are essential when attempting the track.
