12th Century Templar Watchtower And Manor House With Stunning Views

Facing the church, in the delightful hamlet of St. Martin de Vers, rises a 12th-century Templar watchtower with sensational views. A charming walled garden surrounds it – a riot of colour in summer – with a barbecue terrace, and a discreetly placed, yet generous swimming pool. Fill this manor house with your family and friends: the interiors may be magnificent and the style 'chateau', but the décor feels homely not daunting. Simple stone walls are set off by period oak furniture - big rugs top wooden floors and the sitting room is baronial, with huge comfy white sofas around a Godin wood-burning stove, in the fireplace at one end, while high-backed dining chairs and pewter candlesticks grace a massive oak dining table at the other. In between generous William Morris curtains frame windows overlooking the garden. An adjoining small, but perfect first-floor kitchen opens on to a veranda with blissful views. Gleaming oak stairs in the tower link four double bedrooms that boast carved four-posters from the set of 'The Tudors ' and views over the medieval village, yet offer all the modern comforts of ensuite bathrooms with large, fluffy towels.( A twin room with ensuite and a lofty single bedroom at the top of the tower with stunning views are also available ) If you plan to bring a larger party a cosy cottage in the garden ( only let in conjunction with the main house ) offers two extra bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and its own kitchen/ livingroom for a supplement.

    A little bit of heaven
If you want a relaxing holiday in a beautiful house with a lovely pool, this is the place to go. The biggest decision we had to make was who was going to buy croissants and pastries for breakfast. Ideal location if you go with a group as there is plenty of space, different areas of shade and sun and you don’t feel you are on top of each other. Beautiful Hamlet, stunning houses with shutters (picture book French village) . The church next door is exquisite and the bells are a joy and I will miss them. A special shout out to Shep the property manager, who really went above and beyond to make our stay relaxing, he really was a star!

    Templar tower
This was our second stay at the Tower and the property was as magnificent as ever. It is the perfect property for a large family or group with the teenagers using the largest bedroom as their social space whilst the adults enjoyed the main sitting room! The pool is perfect for cooling off and the village simple and beautiful. All the facilities you could wish for in the historic splendour of the Tower. We will definitely be returning to this wonderful place.

Beautiful rustic large property, well kept gardens and pool
The house is beautiful with large rooms, so much space for a big family group such as ours. Shepperd the caretaker was extremely helpful and came each morning to clean the pool and water the plants. The hamlet is very pretty and the views from the house lovely, it’s a shame there isn’t a local shop to buy bread etc but we did realise that before the holiday. We got used to the church bells, though some of us used ear plugs but it was worth it to stay in such a lovely house. Thank you Richard

    Magnificent.
Magical experience. Special village. Thank you Richard. And a particular expression of gratitude to Shep for helping to make our stay so wonderful. We had 17 visitors off and on over 6 weeks and all were comfortably cared for. The pool was well tended and well used because of warm weather. Merci.

Enjoying life's beauty in the lap of luxury
Everyone loved this house--it's beauty, it's luxury, it's quiet, it's amenities...it was perfect! The only thing we would have changed is the bells of the neighboring church watchtower, which were rather loud. The charm of this house, and the town, is untouchable. We definitely want to come back!

Wonderfully unique medieval style tower in charming village!
Our family of 11 from ages 6 to 76 loved our stay. Although the tower dates back to the 12th century, it has been updated with modern amenities. It is spacious, most bedrooms have their own bathroom, and the grounds, esp. the pool was a welcome retreat after long hot days visiting the sites in the area, of which there are many. One of the best caves with prehistoric art is within 20 minutes (Pech Merle) as well as St. Cirq Lapopie, one of Europe’s most beautiful villages. Finally, Richard, the owner, is everything you could want in a host - accommodating, charming, helpful - just an all around pleasure to meet and share a drink with.

    The property is simply wonderful!
This property is simply amazing with huge amounts of space for a large group like ours. The bedrooms are something from Game of Thrones or The Tudors and the dining room/lounge is huge. A lovely quiet village with pleasant walks for the dog. The only down side (if you can call it that) are the hourly chimes from the church clock tower opposite - however you soon tune them out and occasionally notice the time from their regular toll which means you stop looking at your watch and adopt a different pace of life! Well equipped and a very comfortable interior mean that we wanted for nothing where other properties we have experienced have been equipped with only the bare minimum. Lots to explore in the surrounding countryside and the Labastide just up the road as a perfectly adequate supermarket with the bigger ones outside Cahor not much further away again. Richard was a lovely generous host and his dog Treacle very sweet. Thank you for making this wonderful property available to us for a truly memorable and much needed holiday!

Très belle propriété où l'on a apprécié que chaque chambre bénéficie de sa salle de bain. Les environs sont tres calmes. La piscine est ideale. Le seul bemol serait la taille de la cuisine pour une si grande maison.

    10-day holiday
A fascinating house with a lot of charm in a picturesque village. A lot to see and do in the vicinity - a beautiful area. Garden and pool impeccably clean, however not the inside; dust in the bedroom corners, a stained pillow, unclean dinner plates, leftovers in freezer and refrigerator, etc, was disappointing.
