HMS Africa was one such ship. She was a small two decker, built in Deptford in 1781, and played an early role at Trafalgar, having arrived before the bulk of the British fleet. She was eventually broken up at Portsmouth in 1813. Her captain at Trafalgar, Henry Digby, was a Dorset man.
