We stayed in one of the historic rooms in the main building. It was comfortable, quiet, and the water pressure was excellent. The three course dinner with wine pairings was delicious and beautifully presented, if a tad pricey. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. I was studying the capital Urnes stave church and could just take the little ferry across the field to get there. The old world charm of the garden with the summer house, the lovely appointed dining room and salon, and the charming village climbing up the hill behind the hotel made the stay delightful. We wished our room was in the original building, rather than the addition with entrance from the back. The dining area was spectacular and the morning breakfast divine. The presentation was lovely and assortment of sweets and savories was brilliant. We wanted to stay and sit in the dining area for the rest of the day. The stepson who checked us in was the only downside of our stay at Walaker. He was officious, abrupt, discourteous to our driver/guide and made a big deal about serving us dinner.
