Frequently asked questions

What is the best time to go to Makemo?
The best time to go for a Makemo vacation package is during the drier months from June to August. Temperatures during this period typically range around 80-85°F, offering pleasant conditions for exploring the atoll. This is also a popular time, so you might find more travelers.

For a potentially more affordable Makemo vacation, consider traveling between January and March. While temperatures are still warm, around 78-82°F, there's a higher chance of rain during these months.
How can I save money on a Makemo vacation package?
When you bundle, you can save up to 30%*. To save money on a Makemo package, consider traveling during the quieter months or be flexible with your dates to find more options. Bundling your flights and hotel together often unlocks savings compared to booking separately. *Members only. Savings vary.
Do you need to rent a car in Makemo, or is public transport enough?
For Makemo vacation packages with flights, a rental car is generally not necessary for exploring the main areas of the atoll. Makemo is a small island, and many accommodations arrange transfers from the airport. Most resorts offer airport shuttle services to and from Faaite Airport (FAC) or other nearby airstrips. Getting around the main village area is often done by walking or cycling.

While public transport is not a primary option, some Makemo beach vacation packages may include excursions or activities that provide transportation. For exploring beyond your resort or the immediate village, local taxis or boat transfers can be arranged.
Are there vacation package hotels in Makemo within walking distance of restaurants and shops?
Makemo vacation package hotels can indeed place you within walking distance of local amenities. For example, Hotel A, rated 8.5 out of 10, is about a 5-minute walk from the Makemo Village Center, where you can find local eateries. Hotel B, with a rating of 8.2 out of 10, is also conveniently located about a 10-minute walk from the village center. If you're looking for local goods, Hotel C, rated 8 out of 10, sits about a 5-minute walk from the Local Market.

Actual walking routes may differ from straight-line distances, so check the map for your selected hotel.
