I chose to stay at the Milton / Ox Hotel last minute for work as it was well rated and very reasonably priced. I was a little unsure what to expect but took a chance given there were very good reviews and all in all, this place is easily an 8 out of 10! Not a traditional hotel as it starts from the 2nd Floor upwards. (offices below). I entered the reception and walked through the bar area which was really nice and well presented (many TVs with sports, pool table, fruit machines etc).. Bit of a hidden gem for the local area in my opinion! Check in was straightforward however, word of warning for those with a lot of luggage.. the layout of the building means that the lifts are not quite aligned to the hotel floor areas so you have to go down about 10 steps after getting out of the lift, odd but wasnt an issue really. I got to my room on the 13th floor and was pleasantly surprised at how nice and clean it was. A good space and a large bathroom which was great. The view on the side of the building I was on was fantastic with countryside in the longer distance. It was very quiet too. The 2 reasons stopping this being 10/10 was because the mattress was very cheap, old and uncomfortable. A really easy fix but could've massively enhanced my stay. The last thing is personal to me.. as a larger bloke, I struggled to get in the shower as the sliding shower door leaves a limited gap to get in so was a squeeze! No door would be better. I'd stay again if these issues were sorted!

Building is dated but still a great hotel. Rooms are clean and tidy especially the bathrooms. What really makes this a great hotel though is the excellent customer service, staff are brilliant and very friendly. As someone that travels alot for work this is definitely one of the best budget hotels I've stayed at.

The room was clean and comfortable. The building was a bit peculiar and I assume it used to be an old university building - it was very office like. The area was quiet though. We were located on the 13th floor so very quiet. We did not eat at the hotel so can’t comment on this

From the point of arrival it looks an unsafe area, building is an ex office block subdivided to office space and hotel. Reception on 2nd floor...things looked up ..rooms, well very tired beds, not comfortable and did not give a sense of clean. Bathroom shower walls covered in soap scum, but generally clean. It says 3 star...I would be surprised at 1 star, especially for the price...family room ( 4 singles) at over £140 a night...frightening!

From the outside we really wasn’t sure what to expect from the hotel. Looks like a disused office block from the seventies. The hotel reception is on the second floor, through the bar. Not sure if it’s a new thing, but needed photo ID and an actual credit / debit card to check in - not contactless. Once that was sorted, no issues at all with the hotel. The room was basic but clean and spacious, really decent shower. The bar had numerous drinks offers and the food available was a good variety and very tasty. Breakfast was a buffet type, was hot and tasty too. Don’t be put off by the exterior. Would stay there again next time we’re in Manchester.
