Casa de Gondomil: BE A PART OF THE RIVER, BEING APART FROM IT ALL

Located half way up a hill on an agricultural property called "Quinta de Gondomil", from where it takes its name, this house is set on the right bank of the river Douro, and has an extension of almost 200 metres facing it. It is a detached house with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and a living room with a terrace which has a view over the Douro.

It is a stone built property from the 1940s and was the property owners´ home at one time, with architecture characteristic of the era and region. It was recently renovated and fitted with every commodity and comfort for rural tourism, such as central heating, a hearth, air conditioning etc.

Personal attention; a welcoming and heartfelt visit
This is a very proud family property, clean and in a beautiful location on the Douro River. The owners are cheerful and interactive and very helpful. We loved our stay here. We swam, helped pick grapes, and my husband even had the opportunity to stomp them to make family wine.

A week in Portugal
We had a great week staying at this property by the river. It overlooks the river and you can use the kayaks. There’s a balcony and a pool. Being on the side of the valley makes parking a bit tricky. Maria was helpful, suggested places to eat and fixed the coffee machine straight away.

Little cottage in the hills
This is a very unique property nestled in the hills just above the Douro River. Very private, quiet and peaceful. Our host Maria Eugenia, was very welcoming and accommodating. The pool was pristine and access to the river a bonus! Would stay here again. Highly recommend.

Lovely spot on the Douro
Had a great time at Casa de Gondomil, which has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Great views, well equipped and with use of canoes to have fun on the river. The pool is fine for a cooling dip. We would love to return in the future. Maria Eugenia and Jose are great hosts.

Idyllic!
We only had 2 days here but wished we could stay longer. Maria welcomed us warmly and gave us a great restaurant recommendation for dinner. The accommodation was spotless and breakfast on the balcony overlooking the river was a highlight. Highly recommend!

Fabulous location!
Maria was so friendly & helpful even before our holiday started. We had an amazing time staying in the most remarkable spot along the river, so peaceful & the pool and kayaks just added to our fun!! Would recommend this place to all & will definitely be back one day ourselves!!
