We recently stayed in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite at Soho Lisgar and were very pleased with our experience. The self check-in process was simple and convenient, and the property was clean and well maintained. The suite itself was a good size and came with everything we needed — a full kitchen with a microwave, dishwasher, stove, oven, and a large fridge with a freezer on the bottom. It even had a washer and dryer, which was a great bonus for a longer stay.
The beds were very comfortable, and overall the suite was quiet, though we did hear the occasional siren at night — to be expected when staying downtown. We enjoyed being able to cook breakfast and dinner right in the suite. Having a Farm Boy grocery store just a few blocks away made picking up groceries very convenient.
One of the main reasons we chose Soho Lisgar was because it offered a parking garage. Street parking downtown is expensive, and the nearby lot is usually packed during the day. On one day, the parkade garage door was being replaced, so we were given the option to leave our car inside or park elsewhere, and management covered the outside parking cost — a nice touch.
If we had to mention any minor improvements, it would be to add a few more kitchen items, like a spatula, serving spoons, oven mitts, a muffin tin, and a frying pan (there were pots but no frying pan).
Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely book again the next time we’re in Ottawa!
