First of all, the place is extremely clean, and then when you realize that everyone who stays there is just going out and playing in dust and mud you understand that the place is unbelievably clean. The rooms are all very big and spacious and the place is large enough that we had 12 people staying there and we never felt cramped. There are 2 large hang out rooms inside and then there is a deck, a patio, and a fire pit outside to hang out around. The host is very prompt to reply to you and good to work with, even making sure you have all the little extras that really make the trip enjoyable, like a little extra firewood. The town of Matewan is super nice and friendly and you can walk to the restaurants and historical sites, and you are very close to a gas station and grocery store. And if you prefer to cook, the kitchen is very well stocked with pots and pans and even appliances like an air fryer, dishwasher, microwave, blender, mixer, etc. and lots of glassware, plates, silverware, spatulas, it's got you covered. For trail riding you can literally sit and watch people going in and out of the trail head. There is plenty of room for parking you vehicles, trailers, and rigs. The only reason I put 4 stars for location is because there are very active train tracks in the back yard, and a railroad crossing right next to the house, so several times a night you will hear the train blasting it's horn and running past the house, but it's not too bad. Very spacious, and felt like it was cared for very well. The owners supplied the house with activities( karaoke machine, fire wood for the fire pit, ect) the house is located in the center of matawan so if you are renting or have a side by side you can hop on the trail right next to the house which is trail 21\. Very welcoming and friendly town, restaurants in walking distance, plenty of stores) all the locals will want to become your friends and that was very.
