The staff was pleasant and friendly. The room was large and equipped with a microwave oven and refrigerator. Everything in the room worked well. The waterpressure was good and the water got hot. There is no icemaker in the premises. The overall shape of the buildings was a bit run outdated. The door of our hotel room was hung crooked whichl ooked bad and let extra light into the room from the hallway. The bathroom tile and paint looked like it was left halfway completed. Everytime a guest would shut the door to their room, it would echo down the hallway and the sound would travel loudly right into our room. Because the price was so inexpensive and the staff was so friendly, I would still consider staying here again.

You pay for fancy lobbies or pools or free breakfast in big chain hotels where they lack character and are not at all convenient to check in or unload luggage.plus you CC pay for the amenities you often don’t need or use. Walnut Inn was impeccably clean. Seems recently renovated top notch. Beds are comfortable. You can back up to your door to offload luggage. Lobby and grounds very well kept and appealing. Diner is in same parking lot. Gas station across street. I-40 is short distance. Close to downtown Fort Smith but still feels like you’re in country. We booked room for family visit. Booked initially for 3 days but when I saw room and location booked for full week.i never got tired of our room as it was twice size of most hotel rooms.

The area seemed run down and not cared for

Clean room. Couldn't drive around the motel and it would have been nice instead of backing up and turning around to enter or exit room parking.

Simple room for a simple price. A bit old but did the job just fine.
