Airport (EWR) to Milan (MXP) 9/10 Wonderful! (452 reviews) Room was scantily appointed but linens , floor , bathroom were all clean. Breakfast was okay.. nothing special but they did do cappuccinos and had done hot eggs .. rest was cold cuts, pastries , yogurt and nuts. Would’ve appreciated some proper shampoo and conditioner, and nice lotion and a dryer that wasn’t stuck to the wall and you could barely get in front of the mirror to use. Also would’ve appreciated a comfortable chair. Also my room was in front of a construction zone so you had to keep the windows basically closed in the blinds shut otherwise the working guys looking at you the whole time the staff at the front desk were wonderful and the location was good. I would’ve definitely recommended that they give their clients a map of the area with the important things because I ask where to go to find grocery store and she told me the name of the store and I googled it searched it and I had to go pretty far to find it, and meanwhile there was one I found at the last day I was I was in this town like literally 10 minutes from my place way closer and she never told me and it was a different name they didn’t go by carrefour it went by Market, but didn’t show up on my map search and I ended up walking too far for five bottles of water way past the train downstairs upstairs it was crazy. That I was not appreciative. this hotel worked for what I needed to do. And I didn’t know better and i would stay somewhere else. (184 reviews) I normally do not write reviews; but, wanted to for this hotel. It is a small quaint hotel. It actually has a small pool and hot tub with incredible views. It is actually located in Vezio right outside of Varenna. At first, I was concerned about the location from Varenna. However, Rita the proprietor made sure we had transportation from the train station as well as to and from all of our points of interest. We seriously wanted for nothing. Rita and the staff made sure all our needs were taken care of. She even cooked us lasagna dinner herself when the local restaurant was closed. I have stayed in many hotels but never received this level of hospitality. We actually would say and continue to say where is “Rita” because this would not happen. She took care of every need and would not let us be without a ride, food, umbrella, etc. If you are planning to visit this area you will not regret staying at the Hotel Diffuso il Portichetto. Rita and her staff will treat you like family! I can’t wait to go back!!
