Let me start with the pros.
Staff is courteous and helpful. We had an issue with the hot water and someone came within 5 minutes after I called the front desk to fix it.
Rooms are clean and the room service staff is very thorough.
Hotel is extremely well situated right next to the subway and the upper west side is a great area (speaking as a former upper west sider!)
Cons.
Rooms could do with a serious upgrade. The blinds in my room were broken, the bathroom door had no hook to hang clothes or even the hand towel.
The faucets in the tub were wonky and need to be changed out.
Would have loved a mini fridge and a microwave.
Overall would I stay here again? yes I would.

i spent lots of money for one night, but there was no breakfast included. I was with my wife as a new married couple to make memories on our 1st night, but the room was terribly heated, and the room service was poor. I called twice for a champagne glass.
dinner was amazing with beautiful views.

We were looking for a quick overnight in the East End, and the Harpoon House exceeded our expectations in every way. The room was spacious (a suite!) and well-appointed, blending the charm of the original 1648 (!) building with modern amenities and furnishings. We didn't take advantage of the on-property restaurant (formerly Blu Mar), but the menu - by acclaimed chef Rocco DiSpirito - looked excellent, if a bit pricey. Location was ideal, within easy walking distance of all Main Street shops and restaurants, and less than a mile to the beach. And, although things were a bit quieter than in the height of summer - not a bad thing! - we loved being out there for the fall harvest season, with wineries and farms in full swing. All-in-all, our stay at the Harpoon House made for a perfect fall weekend in the Hamptons - highly recommended.
