It is located in the Canyons at beautiful Lake Whitney. It has 2 bedrooms (one down, 2nd is a loft upstairs) and 1.5 bath. Fully equipped kitchen, full size washer & dryer. located at the end of a no outlet street surrounded by trees, backing up to a ravine. If you like to hike or just explore, there are trails behind the cabin. There is a neighborhood cove located just a short drive from the cabin, it is great for swimming, fishing or kayaking. It features a full wrap around porch that you can enhance your evenings by turning on the rope lights at night. The porch features a dining table on the back, swing that overlooks the yard with the fire pit (being your own fire wood). There is a small bistro table, 4 rocking chairs at the front and a spool table for you to sit and enjoy nature. No matter where you are at on the porch, there is plenty of seating. We have a deer feeder that goes off early morning and early evening, so be sure to be on the look out for our neighborhood friends! There is a picnic table with a smoker/grill located under the carport for you to cook and dine outside (be sure to bring charcoal/lighter) \*the gas grill located on the porch is NOT available for use\*. You will have access to all interior and exterior spaces, except for the locked closet in the master bedroom, the small storage shed on the back porch and the garage. Those spaces are for housekeeping & maintance personell. We added a 50 ft tower with a tv intenna \*no climbing allowed\*. We do have internet and All of the Tvs have Roku and there are 54 movies in the dvd holder for you to watch as well. We also added a cell phone booster in the cabin to help with service ( we cannot guarantee service as it will depend on your provider). \*Strict 6 guest max, 3 car max at all times, NO EXCEPTIONS!! This is NOT a party house\*\*\*\* \* pets are welcome $30 non refundable fee\* Please message me prior to booking if you have more than 2 pets\* \*please keep in mind our cabin is surrounded by cedar trees, and dirt/gravel roads. Dirt/pollen are inevitable\* \*NO PARTIES/REUNIONS or EVENTS of ANY KIND ALLOWED-NO LOUD MUSIC AT ANY TIME- QUIET TIME 9PM-7AM MUSIC OFF DURING THIS TIME\*\*\*\*FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE REMOVAL FROM PROPERTY AND LOSS OF ALL MONIES PAID\*\* DO NOT PUY ANY TRASH IN THE FIRE PIT- it is NOT a trash can, use the bins provided!! \*\*\*NO SMOKING ALLOWED INSIDE\*\*\* evidence of smoking inside will result in an additional $200 from deposit for deep clean and or violation of rule. If you smoke outside- you will need to dispose of your cigarettes - do not use the tin cans for bottle caps, do not leave any on the deck or in the yard. This can cause a fire and you will be held liable for any damages to the property. Property is inspected after each departure. If they are found on property, you will lose part of your deposit!!!!! Check out instructions are left in the cabin. It is a friendly reminder to pick up after yourself and to not leave any personal belongings behind. You will self check in with keyless keypad- code provided upon check in. This cabin is an actual log cabin, therefore it has natural insulation. While there is AC & heat, it can be warmer or cooler than normal depending on the season. Fireworks are not permitted in the property. \*\*This property cannot accommodate large boats \*\* While we do supply toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags- they are limited. \*There are 2 security cameras outside. When we arrived, the water was off due to a valve issue, but the property owner was extremely prompt in getting help and rectifying the issue. The only other issue we had was that the Vrbo listing at time of booking included a hot tub, which was one of the main reasons for my booking, but the property in fact does not have a hot tub. Instructions to the property were perfect. Once we were there, we wanted to stay. We took hundreds of pictures of the deer. Now the bad part. The house was not cleaned as expected. The couch and one of the chairs had dog hair all over it. The countertop in the kitchen was dirty. There were cobwebs on the ceiling fan and in the bathroom. The rugs in the bathroom needed vacuuming. Other than that, the stay was really nice. I would recommend this place to friends and family. Thanks ##### William C. Dates shown above are incorrect. We were there July 31st thru August 4th. I do have a few suggestions. Directions to The Canyons needs to be more specific starting with exiting from I35\. Boat that we brought was not a problem getting into the property and parking was very sufficient. In the description for turning on the family room tv is not accurate. It says to use the Black remote. All three (3) are Black also the tv is a Toshiba and none of the remotes are for a Toshiba. As a result we were unable to connect the tv. Both bedrooms tv were excellent and work properly. Also what is up the "Caution" tapes on certain trees? That made us uncomfortable as if it were a crime scene. If it is for safety, I would use another tape and explain why they are taped. I also cleaned out the bbq pit before we left as asked; however, it was not cleaned when we started our charcoal fire. Hopefully this will help in the future so that you will get the excellent rating. BTW neighbor waved at me while taking out the trash. We had no problems with them. I will be using Vrbo again! There is a nice wrap-around porch, a grill, an outdoor fire pit, and a covered parking area; all nice amenities. It was clean and had a nice layout, with extremely comfortable beds. It is located near a boat ramp for accessing the lake. All-in-all, I'm looking forward to staying at this property again. ##### Angela C T. The wraparound porch gives the back side of the cabin a treehouse feel. Angela is a wonderful host and communications were great before and after our stay which was unfortunately cut short due to an emergency that came up. We had such a great time watching the deer through the big windows and telling old stories. The owner was fantastic and gives great directions. Easy arrival and exit. Others wrote about the wrap-around porch; it is truly perfect. We had all of our meals out there, practically in the middle of a forest! The house is great. The kitchen is adequate, but not ideal for cooking; it is very small. It wasn't an issue, but when we go back, we'll know. The Cabin at Lake Whitney has all of the ingredients for a PERFECT cabin experience. It feels secluded and private and is only a quick hour from the DFW Metroplex. It’s also located 20 minutes away from two lovely State Parks (Meridian and Lake Whitney) where we spent some time hiking and riding our bikes. The cabin itself is a vacation though. One of the best features is the wrap around porch nestled into a tree-lined hollow with plenty of seating areas to relax (and watch the deer). We also enjoyed spending time relaxing indoors in front of the wood burning fireplace and outside around the firepit area. The interior of the cabin is very spacious, clean and was even decorated for Christmas! Thank you for the wonderful experience, Angela. My only criticism is the light switches are hard to find. Hidden in places you wouldn't expect. Place is not really built for 3 grown adults. There is 1 full bedroom and a loft over looking the living room with 2 futons. Good place for a married couple to take kids, not necessarily for 3 adults. There are a lot of rules and lots of reasons to lose you deposit so make sure you follow them. Overall, it was a nice, clean place in a remote area to unwind and we enjoyed our stay. ##### Steven G. We followed the owners directions to the cabin which made it easy to get to.
