Find hotels in Mothar Mountain from $80

The best area to stay in Mothar Mountain is within the Mothar Mountain State Forest itself, particularly near the camping and day-use areas.

This area is characterized by its dense eucalypt forests, walking trails, and natural beauty. It's an ideal spot for those looking to disconnect and enjoy outdoor activities, with facilities often including picnic tables, barbecue areas, and access to walking tracks that lead to scenic lookouts.

For couples seeking a peaceful retreat, staying within the State Forest offers a wonderful opportunity for privacy and connection with nature. You can enjoy quiet walks, birdwatching, and star-gazing away from any city lights.

Families will also find this area suitable for an outdoor adventure. The natural setting provides plenty of space for children to explore, and the designated camping areas offer a structured yet rustic experience.

The best time to visit Mothar Mountain is during the cooler, drier months of April to October.

During this period, you'll experience comfortable daytime temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F), making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the natural surroundings. The lower humidity and reduced rainfall mean the walking trails are generally in better condition, and you're more likely to have clear skies for enjoying the scenic views. This time frame is superb for travelers looking to engage with nature without the intensity of the summer heat or the disruption of heavy rain.

Conversely, the summer months from November to March bring higher temperatures, increased humidity, and a greater chance of significant rainfall, which can sometimes lead to flash flooding and make some trails inaccessible. While the lush greenery is at its peak during summer, the conditions can be less comfortable for extended outdoor adventures.
