When I arrived, the man at the desk told me he couldn’t honor my reservation because “a pipe broke” and he had no other room. I had to go to another town and try to find a room at a different motel late in the day. He told me if I contacted Expedia and told them what happened he would return my money through them. Expedia contacted the motel and they REFUSED to give me back my money! Don’t book with this motel. They are unreliable and dishonest. Why is such a lousy establishment even listed with Expedia? Why can’t Expedia make this right?

First of all, I am property manager in North Carolina with several decades of experience. I was pretty disappointed in our accommodations. 1) Excessive trash laying around the property including more than a 100 cigarette butts piled into a 5 gallon bucket at one of the side entry doors. This condition was present on Monday through today without any cleaning. I observed a guest laundry room that had trash on the floor including a cup playing on its side 2) Security risk with a non-locking door on the Harper roadside of the building. It was card access but the door would not shut completely. 3) There is a severe trip hazard on the front entrance of the building close to one of the columns. 4) The pool was dirty. The outside of the pool floor was slime and represented a slip hazard where somebody could lose their footing and bring bang their head into the side wall of the pool. The pool had a good many bugs laying on the surface water. Because I never saw any pool maintenance, it was apparent that they weren't testing the water for bacteria. The concrete deck around the indoor part of the pool needed to be bleached and pressure washed. 5) At the coffee dispenser area, there were sugar packets that were damp. The attendant told me that they came that way on the truck due to a leaking refrigeration system. 6) The grounds look like they were abandoned as there are numerous weeds growing through all of the round stone areas surrounding the building.

The staff was great, friendly, and super helpful. The lobby is nice and the room was good aside from being unable to avoid being sprayed in the face by cold water each time we used the shower as there is no way to avoid it. Our room was also not cleaned once during our stay. Minor complaints, overall it was a decent place to stay.

The good: super friendly and pleasant staff, from the front desk people through to the gentleman that worked the breakfast area. The bed was comfortable and bedding seemed clean. Breakfast was standard “breakfast included” fare. The not good: brown substance splattered on the bathroom wall. Wiped it off with a cloth and it smelled strongly of feces. Curley hairs (you can guess from where) on the toilet and bathroom floor. Ants on the floor. Sticky worn carpet in the room and sticky unknown substance on the wall and alarm clock. White debris (paint chips, plaster?) scattered on the floor outside our door. Red splatters on the wall in the hallway (blood?). Rooms decore worn and dated. I feel kinda bad about leaving a poor review because the staff was so nice, but I would be hard pressed to stay here ever again.
