The room was quite spacious and had that old plantation type feel. The bathroom was huge but clean not so much. There was a pubic hair in the jetted tub which was a turn off as was the black stuff on the tile where the grout would be (I am assuming mildew). At check in we were told the front desk was staffed 8AM - 8PM, to call during that time if we needed anything. After the first night on that rock hard bed we were in need of extra pillows, when calling the front desk to inquire I was met with a bad attitude saying that she would have to check to see if house keeping was still on the grounds that those request should be made between 8AM - Noon, that is why we are told such at check in (I was not told that at check in), after discerning that it would do no good I did not argue back with this lovely lady. When going to take a tour of the house, we went through the front entrance into the foyer and were not met by any staff so we did our own tour of the downstairs and grounds. The upkeep of the outside of the house is lacking when up close and personal. The porch needs attention, as do the columns and there is a lot of clutter spilling out from an area on the back side of the porch that looks horrible. The best part though was The Castle Restaurant and Pub. The service was so so at the restaurant but the food was outstanding. The service at the pub was amazing as was the food. This could be an amazing place to stay if managed better with upkeep being a priority.
