“A really charming and quirky house, perched on an overlook above a bend in the James river. Very friendly host, nice grounds, and plenty to explore in the surroundings. We did some outdoor grilling and a fire in the pit on a very starry night. The kids were disappointed that the hottub wasn't working that weekend, but there were plenty of games and some swings nearby to keep them occupied.”

“Such a lovely stay!! Everything was comfortable, clean, and lots of space to relax and unwind. I don't usually book a shared home, but was sold on the animals. Homeowners were so sweet checking in on us when we arrived while also granting the privacy expected for a booking. Just perfect. A highlight of our stay was the walk to the pond. One of the baby cows, we named Roo, came to greet us and was so precious letting us pet him. Would definitely stay again if in the area.”

“Everything was exactly as described. Location was perfect. We visit the Charlottesville area often and this is the area we look for the most. Even though our schedule was too packed this visit to enjoy them all, the amenities were perfect (pool, firepit, billiards, etc)! “The property was perfect for our stay for UVA graduation weekend. It is a quick drive to grounds and comfortably fit four people. We had a slight problem upon arrival, where the adjoining rental had gained access to our property through a door left unlocked. The owner was immediately available to resolve, but it was unnerving to find someone in our space. Recommend a deadbolt lockout between the areas for the future, as even when locked, we would have controlled access to their area- which isn't……

“This is a very unique, historic property in the quiet country atmosphere of Buckingham County - but also close to some historic sites and beautiful natural areas. The host, Nancy, is very friendly and welcoming. When we found we were short a few kitchen items, she very promptly made them available. The VRBO cottage, attached to the larger historic bed and breakfast, affords its own special privacy and atmosphere. The grounds, with tables for eating outside, slope down to an inviting gazebo. “Perfect place for girls trip. Hit up local wineries and Uber back safely to this house. Beds were firm, but I found them comfy!! We honestly didn’t really utilize the kitchen, so can’t speak to how well stocked the kitchen was. The house was clean and plenty of space for all 9 of us!! Was very easy to access. Close to grocery and ABC store and a few restaurants. Would definitely stay here again for a girl’s trip!!”
