A Norman Rockwell setting one hour from State College

This property, while in the country, is still close to many interesting activities. The house is conveniently located near Johnstown, Altoona, Bedford and State College. The guest house is just 10 minutes off the turnpike.

There are brochures in the guest house for information on local places to visit. The brochures will direct guests to everything from spa's, shopping, antiques, bike trails, museums, covered bridges, hiking, skiing, and so much more. Very close to Shawnee state park and Blue knob state park.

I have been a life long antique and folk art collector as well as a shop keeper for over 25 years. The guest house showcases all that I love, antiques, folk art, quality reproductions coupled with my commitment to provide all the comforts of home. One of our guests wrote "the house is a great respite to decompress from the daily grind, sitting on the back porch listening to the birds sing."

This three bedroom house is on a 144 acre farm that is rich with history. The Spring Meadow farm was deeded in 1796 and the earliest owners were Quakers. Some of the Quakers that lived on this farm were involved in the underground railroad. Another interesting fact is just before the civil war President Buchanan would visit here. In the 1880's senator John M. Reynolds bought the farm at a sheriff sale. He had the road paved between the barn and the train station so he would have a smooth horse and buggy ride when he needed to head to Washington. It was the only paved road in the entire county. That is a sampling of the history here.

The guest house is nestled between the 1840's house and the barn. Come sit on the screened in back porch and sip coffee, tea, or drink of choice and enjoy the scenic views and the wildlife (birds, ground hogs, and deer). In the evenings you can grill out on the porch, swing in the hammock,or have a bon-fire. A great place to unwind with all the amenities of home.

We have hosted reunions, birthdays, quiet getaways and even weddings. Rent our Guest House and revisit life in simpler times.

Try a women's weekend! I have had many groups of women who have come and enjoyed a girls weekend. Some shopped, some cooked, some did crafts, some just enjoyed chatting with their friends, some have had a wine tasting party, and some have celebrated birthdays. No matter what they came to do, they all have enjoyed this guest house. Many are planning return visits. You can't go wrong spending a weekend with your girlfriends.

Perfect Place To Catch Up With Life-long Friends
We are five women in our 60s who have been friends since childhood. One lives in Philadelphia and the others in NE Ohio. The house is the mid-point and close to Bedford where we always spend the day shopping and dining. The house has plenty of room for all of us and has all the necessities. The beds are very comfortable.

Comfortable, Private Rental Property
Our family has stayed at this property several times. The house is quaint and is satisfactory for our short family trip. Using the property was easy and it had all of the basic amenities described. The WiFi was a little unreliable and improving this would be a nice upgrade. As long as you don't want modern styling or accommodations, this is a good property to rent.

This was our first time choosing a place to stay through Vrbo and even tho it was an older house, it was very nice, clean, and met all our needs for this trip to Pa. If needed, we would choose this home again.

The property is beautiful and very serene. We stayed here before and had the same relaxing experience. The home is very clean and nicely decorated. We felt right at home during our stay. Girls Getaway Weekend
We are a group of childhood friends who have been gathering for a getaway weekend in central PA for many many years. Bedford is the mid-way point and we’ve stayed at many different places in the area. We LOVED LOVED LOVED Lisa’s place. It was spotlessly clean, very homey and comfy, and had every item we would need (and more). We will definitely come back on our next visit to Bedford.

Thank you Liza for continuing to offer your VRBO. Its been 10 yrs since our 1st stay and it still offers all that we could possibly need. We enjoy the rural location, the ease of travel time to Bedford and the decor that makes it a comfortable home. Knowing you are nearby if we need anything is a plus too!

Absolutely perfect
My family and I journeyed apt to rural Pennsylvania for my nephews wedding. From the moment we arrived at this stunning guest house we felt like we were at home or visiting a relative rather than staying at a stranger’s house. Everything has been perfectly thought out. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped. The towels were luxurious and plentiful. The TV worked and we watched movies in the evening. Outside there was a fire pit, gazebo, swimming pool (closed for the winter) Plus an open and enclosed patio. I wish I could stay there forever I loved every minute of it. We will definitely be back. My family agrees 100% and really enjoyed your stay. We were four adults.

The house is just lovely. Stayed for two nights, would’ve loved to stay longer. It was quiet and the owners were very hospitable. Property tranquil and park-like with multiple birds, trees and large backyard. The home was decorated with antiques and primitive items; very well done The owner had many things available such as binoculars. Would love to go back!

Has all the basics
Having stayed in many excellent VRBOs, we may be spoiled. But this location would be improved if the owners spent a couple nights themselves to appreciate the little things that need improvement. for example the toilet flush valve downstairs is very difficult to use. A child could not make it work. the lights through are mostly bare bulbs, very harsh. The washer and dryer are backwards. Etc. PLUS this is a two story unit which was a problem for us. A careful re-reading of the description does cover that feature but it is not made very clear.

Great Place
This was our second time staying at this property. It is a great location when we visit with family who live in the area. We had absolutely perfect weather for our weekend exploring the surrounding counties. We spent time at the Flood Museum, Flight 93 Memorial, and even spent an afternoon at the Johnstown Polka-Fest! We were traveling with my husband's two sisters and they both loved eating our meals on the screened in porch, and we were able to enjoy an evening around the fire pit. We had dinner one evening at Jean Bonnet Tavern in Bedford--very good and nice a outdoor dining experience. We had a vey busy, but lovely weekend..Thanks Liza!
