Given that Ngarkat Conservation Park is a remote and undeveloped natural area focused on wilderness experiences, the best "area" to stay is within the park itself at designated campgrounds. For travelers seeking an authentic outdoor adventure, wilderness camping at one of Ngarkat's established campgrounds, such as those found at Pine Hut Soak or Pertendi, offers direct access to the park's walking trails and 4WD tracks. These sites are equipped with basic facilities like fire pits and drop toilets, providing a genuine bush camping experience under the vast night sky. This is ideal for solo travelers or couples who appreciate spending time in nature and have their own camping gear.Alternatively, for those who prefer a more structured stay, nearby towns like Pinnaroo or Lameroo, located just outside the park boundaries, offer limited accommodation options such as motels or caravan parks. These towns provide a convenient base for day trips into Ngarkat Conservation Park, allowing visitors to explore the park's natural beauty during the day and return to more conventional lodging in the evening.

The best time to visit Ngarkat is during the cooler months, specifically from April to October.During these months, the weather is mild and pleasant, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking, birdwatching, and exploring the park's diverse landscapes. The days are generally sunny with comfortable temperatures, and the evenings are cool. This period avoids the intense heat of the South Australian summer, which can make extended outdoor activities uncomfortable. For those interested in wildflower viewing, late winter and early spring (August to October) are particularly rewarding. The park comes alive with a variety of native blooms, offering excellent photographic opportunities.
