Perfect place to stay in Sacramento

Cute motel. Staff was nice and the room is good. But we had a hard time sleeping because of the noise outside

I understand the desire to remain "authentic" but bathrooms with the old "johns" are ridiculous.

We stay at The Sterling once a year. This may be the last time we do so. The main issue was the shower/tub. The main shower head would only dispense cold water. We had to use the small body shower head to clean. The water would not drain from the tub. We had multiple people staying in our room. After 2 showers, we had half a tub full of dirty water so the rest of our guests were unable to shower. The volume on the remote for the tv also did not work. The only time we saw a person at the front desk was when we checked in. I don’t know if they’re trying to save money or what but they need to staff the front desk. Was not a pleasant experience and I really hate to say it!

It’s not a bad hotel. Great area, staff was incredible, easily walkable to anything downtown or campus. Only negative were the uncomfortable beds. Woke up multiple times a night and it ruined my back.
