There was black mold on the curtains… temperature was terrible because of the insulation. Sofa bed was uncomfortable. Kitchen cabinets stinked really bad. We had to wash the dishes every time before cooking and eating, because the smell was stuck on them.

Castel Clara is a truly stunning hotel in one of the most beautiful locations we’ve visited. The scenery is incredible, the atmosphere is wonderfully peaceful and relaxing, and it was the perfect place to unwind for a couple of days. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful before and throughout our stay, arranging our shuttle, bike hire and restaurant reservations with ease. The food was excellent too – we enjoyed two fantastic meals and a superb breakfast. Our only minor issue was the lack of air conditioning during a particularly hot spell. However, we completely understand and respect the hotel’s commitment to sustainability, and it certainly didn’t detract from what was a fantastic stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and would highly recommend Castel Clara to anyone looking for a memorable stay on Belle-Île.

Good location, close to the beach and places to eat. For the two of us the room was OK but the lack of storage for suitcases, clothes etc would have been difficult if we'd had children using the small second bedroom. And the shower was the smallest I've ever been in!
