Not As Good As Last Time
I wrote one of the first reviews for this hotel. I raved about it. This time around -- not so much. I understand that with time, hotels age and get "beat up." But the room I was assigned showed a lot more wear and tear than I'd expect for one year. The bathroom smelled like a sewer. I didn't complain because frankly, I didn't have time, and I didn't plan on staying in the room much. It was a corner room, and it took a minimum of two minutes (one morning closer to five) to get hot water in the shower. Not acceptable.
Room service was good, and the staff friendly. Food was good, but not worth the price. In my last review I warned that they should not fall in to the same trap as competitors have -- and they have. The breakfast buffet seemed more limited, the food prices were much higher and, upon arriving for breakfast at 9:45 a.m., I was told that I needed to "hurry" because the buffet was closing at 10 a.m. That's not exactly welcoming. I would never tell one of my clients that he or she has to "hurry and call me or I'm going home for the day." Front desk couldn't even break 500p. I like to tip (well) as I go along, and this only hurt the staff.
Perhaps on my next trip I'll return to the hotel attached to Ayala Mall.
