I stayed at Maverick Apartments Budapest recently and had a decent overall experience.
The room itself was okay — not amazing, but not bad either. The building is clearly quite old and historic, which gives it character, but it also explains why the rooms probably aren’t heavily renovated. Because of that, some things felt a bit worn. The washroom had a strong smell, and the toilet flush button was broken during my stay. I assume these issues come with maintaining an older property, though they were still noticeable.
On the positive side, the location is excellent — you’re basically close to everything, which makes exploring the city very convenient. The staff were also friendly and welcoming, which definitely improved the stay.
Overall, it’s a reasonable place if you mainly want a great location and don’t mind a few imperfections in the room.

A spacious studio apartment with a window overlooking the central Bazilic Square. The kitchenette is fantastic: it features a coffee maker, a kettle, a toaster, and even a little stovetop for preparing breakfast. Cookware is provided, and the cherry on top is the private bathroom.

This apartment (downtown 2) is in a great location just a few minutes walk to public transport. Charming old traditional building on a busy street with many restaurants. Quiet inside. Warm. Good size for two people, king size bed, bathroom with lots of hot water, a little kitchen with fridge and kettle. Good value for money, we paid £40 per night. Good WiFi and water pressure. Excellent communication with the owner on how to get in.
However. It would be 10/10 if there was some investment in a new mattress, pillows and bedding/towels. As other people have mentioned the mattress is poor: thin and lumpy, the pillows hard and uncomfortable with pillowcases that don’t fit, and the bedding sheets are poor quality, thin and worn. Upgrading these items would make a very big difference to overall comfort.
