I’ll start by giving credit where it’s due: the owners did a nice job restoring and decorating this old, historic property. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end for us. We booked a **premium room**, which according to Expedia is not the less expensive room categories. What we got was a third-floor room with **no elevator**, directly next to and almost above the main street. The room had no proper windows—only wooden panels with large gaps and openings all around them. It felt like we were sleeping outside on the street. The noise was excessive and made it very difficult to rest. I explained to the young woman at the front desk that my wife had a knee injury and that climbing several flights of stairs was difficult for her. I also explained that the room was extremely noisy. Her rude ponse was basically, *“That’s the room category you chose, and there’s nothing I can do.”* No effort was made to find another room, offer a solution, or even show any concern about the situation. The attitude at the front desk was just as disappointing as the room itself. We stayed one night because we had no practical alternative at that point, but we had to check out the following day and lost the remaining night of our reservation. **The hotel offered absolutely nothing in return—not even an attempt to make things right.** The breakfast buffet was extremely limited, and the bathroom was one of the smallest I’ve ever seen.

The reception staff was friendly and helpful, and I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the employees. Unfortunately, the hotel itself was a completely different experience. I honestly cannot understand how a 4-star hotel can have opossum rats living in the roof. The noise and squealing throughout the night were so bad that I couldn’t sleep. What made it even worse was that the ceiling above the shower was open, and I could actually see the animal through the opening. It was disgusting, disturbing, and completely unacceptable. This is clearly a serious animal-control and hygiene issue that should have been addressed. I’m from Cali and was visiting my city, so it was especially disappointing to have such an unpleasant experience at a hotel that I expected much more from. Definitely not a 4-star experience.
